Overview

This position is responsible for management of day-to-day operations of computing systems at CCR-P. Participates in evaluating, updating and maintaining CCR-P's computing systems; oversees systems administration, troubleshooting and user support

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Participates with the IT Manager and Network Supervisor in evaluating and defining the overall CCR-P computing systems and network environment considering user requirements, cost and security implications of alternatives to ensure high availability and usability of all CCR-P computing systems. Provides input for computer systems budget planning.
  2. Plans for, identifies, and coordinates the integration of software and hardware upgrades to the CCR-P computing systems ; works with and advises management on ordering new servers and system configurations; develops test and implementation plans for new hardware or software. Ensures that configurations are compatible with existing systems, networking, remote access capabilities, and configuration management guidelines. Coordinates installations of new research and administrative systems.
  3. Works closely with the ISSM to develop, maintain and ensure compliance with security requirements, and compatibility with configuration management and disaster recovery procedures for mission critical business applications. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of computer security requirements.
  4. Oversees the research and response to problem reports; and works closely with Systems Administrators to resolve them.
  5. Reviews and revises procedures for I.T. personnel relating to software configuration and shutdown/reboot procedures.
  6. Plans for and coordinates appropriate staffing levels and schedule assignments to ensure coverage as needed to support computer users; supervises systems administration group of the IT staff.
  7. Conducts annual performance appraisals of direct reports; interviews and recommends candidates for hire in those areas.
  8. Performs other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in UNIX and Windows system administration.
  • BS in Computer Science or related field.
  • Must have experience supervising a team (performance reviews, coaching, counseling, and disciplining).
  • Extensive experience with LAN and WAN configuration and performance analyses.
  • High competence in shell programming, PYTHON, PERL, and HTML.
  • Experience in installing, configuring and upgrading LINUX and Windows operating systems.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-37 and 800-53
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.


Compensation:

We support transparency, equity, and fairness in our compensation program and provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range based on data-driven market analysis for each position. While it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $133,000-$213,000. Individual salary within this range will be commensurate with the incumbent's experience, unique skills and qualifications, and other relevant factors.
