The JobReporting to the Building Official, the Supervising Building and Safety Engineer will assign and supervise the work of professional, technical and clerical staff. Duties may include:
- Review plan check reports, prepared by assigned staff, that indicate deficiencies in plans, calculations and other discrepancies
- Assist in settling conflicts with builders concerning code interpretations, requirements, and substandard structures
- Answer questions and advise the public by phone, email, or in person with information regarding the permit process
- Review and recommend staff workload allocation and permit tracking
- Prepare and sign performance evaluations
- Participate in hiring decisions
- Recommend and carry out disciplinary actions

Minimum Requirements Candidates must posses the required License, Education, and Experience to qualify.LICENSEMust hold current status as a registered Professional Civil or Structural Engineer with the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.
EDUCATIONBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. ***
EXPERIENCEThree (3) years of progressively responsible experience performing complex building plan review within a public-sector jurisdiction. Experience must include reviewing commercial, industrial, and mixed-use projects for compliance with the adopted California Building Standards Code.
