Working directly at the project site, the Superintendent - Mechanical is responsible for supervising and coordinating field operations, integrating field administration, subcontractor management, procurement coordination, and construction execution activities to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This role is essential in aligning day-to-day construction management with Worley's strategic ambition to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for our customers.
You will be responsible for- Leading, coordinating, and supervising all on-site mechanical construction activities to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved schedules and budgets.
- Driving a proactive safety culture by ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements while promoting sustainable work practices.
- Overseeing and integrating field administration, procurement coordination, subcontractor management, and field engineering activities to support project objectives.
- Acting as a primary site contact for mechanical construction execution, fostering strong communication between project teams, customers, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Providing leadership and technical guidance to mechanical construction personnel, supervisors, and subcontractors while promoting collaboration and accountability.
- Monitoring construction progress, evaluating project performance, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks and maintain project commitments.
- Supporting the integration of sustainability-focused solutions into project delivery and identifying opportunities to enhance environmental and operational performance.
- Collaborating closely with engineering, procurement, quality, commissioning, and project management teams to optimize workflows and improve project execution.
- Managing workforce planning, productivity, and resource allocation to ensure effective utilization of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracted resources.
- Ensuring mechanical installation activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, contractual requirements, codes, standards, and company procedures.
- Overseeing equipment installation, rotating equipment setting and alignment, static equipment installation, structural interfaces, and mechanical completion activities.
- Supporting construction readiness, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities to ensure successful project delivery.
- Preparing and communicating construction progress reports, forecasts, and performance updates to project leadership and stakeholders.
- Identifying and resolving field-related challenges through practical and innovative solutions that support project objectives.
- Promoting a respectful, diverse, and inclusive work environment where team members are empowered to contribute to project success.
- Championing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project performance, workforce engagement, and operational excellence.
What you'll bring to the role You are a respected construction leader with demonstrated success directing mechanical construction activities on complex industrial, energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, or major capital projects. You combine strong technical expertise with a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable project delivery.
Key qualifications include:
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or a trade qualification supported by extensive mechanical construction leadership experience.
- Proven experience supervising mechanical construction projects and leading field execution teams in industrial or large-scale construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment installation, rotating equipment, static equipment, field engineering practices, site administration, procurement coordination, and construction management principles.
- Demonstrated ability to manage construction schedules, workforce planning, productivity improvement, and resource allocation.
- Experience overseeing major equipment setting, alignment activities, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning support, and construction turnover processes.
- Experience building collaborative relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, inspectors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills with the ability to influence positive project outcomes.
- Strong understanding of safety leadership, quality management, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to evaluate complex challenges and deliver practical, value-driven outcomes.
- Experience supporting sustainability initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and operational excellence efforts.
- Advanced knowledge of construction systems, tools, processes, industry standards, and mechanical construction best practices.
- Experience managing mechanical scopes within energy, chemicals, resources, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power generation, mining, or industrial construction sectors is highly desirable.
