THE ROLE
You lead field operations for MEB's Commercial/Architectural projects: schools, public libraries, recreation and sports centers, civic facilities, and hospitality. You own day-to-day execution from site logistics through punch list and final turnover, and you deliver a safe, well-built project on schedule.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Jobsite safety. Run pre-task planning across every subcontractor, and hold each trade to the standard whether or not their supervisor is on site.
Trade sequencing. Sequence the trades and coordinate the interfaces between their scopes.
Conflict resolution. Identify conflicts before they affect the work, and drive them to resolution.
Subcontractor accountability. Hold subcontractors to schedule, safety, quality, and contract requirements.
Site logistics and planning. Own site logistics, the field schedule, and short-interval planning with the trades.
Quality and turnover. Verify work against specifications and approved submittals, and run inspections, punch list, and turnover across all trades.
The project relationships. Work with the Project Manager, design team, owner, inspectors, and trade partners to resolve issues quickly.
Documentation and people. Keep field documentation current, make the field calls within delegated authority, and develop the assistant superintendents under you.
WHAT YOU BRING
10+ years in construction field operations, including at least 5 leading public, institutional, or commercial building projects built by subcontractors
A track record of holding subcontractors to schedule and quality without turning the job adversarial. We will ask for examples
Demonstrated ability to sequence multiple trades and manage the interfaces between their scopes
Experience carrying a building project through punch list, turnover, and owner acceptance. Design-build and public-owner experience preferred
Comfort as the lead field voice with owners, design teams, and inspectors, without a project manager beside you
Fluency in Procore or similar, and the discipline to keep daily reports and documentation current. This role carries significant administrative responsibility
OSHA 30 and valid driver's license. High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent field experience. Willingness to take project assignments anywhere in Virginia
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Jobsite-based with on-site presence throughout the workday
Walk the site over uneven terrain, climb, and work around heavy equipment in all weather; required PPE
Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Travel to project assignments across Virginia
