Job Summary/PurposeThis position is accountable for providing leadership, direction and oversight for the Transmission and Distribution substation maintenance activities. The position promotes safe work behaviors and actions from all assigned employees and takes full responsibility for the safety culture within the workgroup. Supervises a staff of substation mechanics, relay mechanics, utility foremen and contractors to maintain substation operations within geographic area of responsibility. Requires strong matrix working relationship with Customer Service Managers, Engineering Supervisor, and Transmission and Distribution Leadership.
Job Duties/Responsibilities- Safety - Engages safety organization and partner to transform field safety efforts. Ensure a safe work environment and safety culture exists for all assigned employees. Actively and progressively require safe work behaviors and actions from all assigned employees. Provides strategic leadership, development, and oversight in the execution of the substation asset management capital and maintenance portfolio. Ensures the Work Management Process is understood and followed.
- Develop, supervise, and direct the annual substation preventative, diagnostic and corrective maintenance program. Responsible for monitoring weather conditions and outages and directing and management of restorations workers for minor storm events during both regular and after hours. Coordinates the assembling of out-of-town storm response teams and Local Storm Leadership during a black event.
- Risk awareness and development - Provides grid leadership for Risk Analysis and elimination/mitigation efforts. Understand and mitigate risk posed by execution of grid maintenance and capital projects. Provide oversight, support, and direction for employees to adhere to committed O&M and SERC work plan.
- Ensure personnel adhere to the FERC/NERC/SERC compliance, configuration management, and maintenance procedures.
- Manage workforce mandated safety and compliance training. Provide development opportunities for employees through training opportunities, both in-house and external.

- Technical degree or equivalent work experience.

- Working knowledge of Substation Work Management System, Automated Outage Request System, and Power plant applications.
- Thorough knowledge of substation maintenance and construction practices.
- Working knowledge of safe work procedures, Entergy Safety Manual, OSHA, and DOT regulations applicable to position.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in transmission, substation, construction, or electrical repair area.
- Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Strong capabilities to work with computers and related technology.
- Understanding of mechanical maintenance principles and relay schemes.
- Ability to work irregular hours, overtime, and out of town assignments.
- Capable of working multiple tasks simultaneously with adherence to deadlines.
- Demonstrated leader in working safely and identifying and correcting unsafe work conditions and practices.
