About this Role
  • Lead day-to-day construction operations for substation projects from mobilization through project closeout.
  • Manage field teams, subcontractors, superintendents, inspectors, and project personnel to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, engineering drawings, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture by enforcing company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and client-specific safety programs.
  • Monitor project schedules, productivity, costs, and resource allocation to achieve project milestones and financial objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, procurement, environmental, and quality teams to resolve field issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Identify construction risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize delays and cost impacts.
  • Lead construction planning meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and client progress reviews.
  • Manage change orders, field documentation, daily reports, and construction records.
  • Support commissioning activities and project turnover while ensuring a seamless transition to the client.
  • Foster positive relationships with utility clients, regulatory agencies, landowners, and local stakeholders.

  • Background working on transmission projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV.
  • Experience with EPC project delivery and utility infrastructure construction.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, or similar construction management software.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety credentials.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
  • 10+ years of progressive substation construction experience within the electrical utility or heavy civil construction industry.
  • Extensive experience managing substation construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of transmission systems, substations, foundations, structural steel erection, electrical installation, and utility construction practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and large field teams simultaneously.
  • Proven knowledge of construction scheduling, project controls, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction contracts.
  • Willingness to travel throughout South East based on project assignments.
