Standard Job Description

This occupation requires the planning, layout, assembly and operation of those test setups and equipment for laboratory tests and research which involve performance of structures and hydraulics skills.

Basic Qualifications

Plans sequence of operations, lays out work, assembles test setup and installs test specimens for conducting functional tests of aircraft units, assemblies, equipment and material requiring utilization of structural and/or hydraulic skills.

Improvises and fabricates and completely assembles necessary holding fixtures, including necessary walkways, hooking up test panels and making final check for readiness of test. Installs and adjusts setup or specimen to test requirement as when setting up and conducting performance proof test. Works from engineering prints, sketches, verbal and written instructions. Supplies details lacking in prints, drawings and sketches.

Installs test unit and specimens in testing machine and equipment and operates most types of standard or specialized laboratory testing equipment for utilization on structures or hydraulics test setups. Maintains test equipment and performs mechanical operations necessary during test runs. May be required to record data during test runs.

Performs all required structural repairs, modifications, and/or hydraulic work in the layout, assembly, installation and conducting of tests on complex aircraft units and assemblies.

Lays out and assembles test setup or specimen by assembling and installing test specimen in test structures or equipment, positioning and fastening in place, fabricating and installing necessary holding fixtures, hooking up of test panels, and making final check for readiness of test.

May be required to calibrate pressure gauges, pressure pickups, valves, actuators, servo packages, rams, jacks, etc.

Operates test equipment, records data and changes setup as required during and after testing operations.

Follows instructions of Engineering personnel in preparation and operation of test setups or follows established procedures while working independently.

May be required, incidental to other work described, to disconnect electrical connections, hydraulic hookups or structural attachments, so as to provide accessibility to specimen.

May be required to operate electronic data entry, storage, processing, and/or retrieval equipment as a routine part of accomplishing their normal job assignments.

Pay Information
  • $34.34 - $54.27

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
