Summary of Responsibilities:

The Vice President leads thePortfolio Monitoring & Solutions function within BBVA's Structured Trade & Commodity Finance business, providing strategic oversight of the Bank's post-closing portfolio monitoring framework across a diverse portfolio of structured financing transactions. The role is responsible for establishing governance standards, developing scalable monitoring processes, strengthening portfolio controls and ensuring compliance with transaction documentation and internal risk policies.

Working in close partnership with Front Office, Credit Risk, Legal, Operations, Engineering, external service providers and clients, the Vice President oversees collateral performance, identifies emerging portfolio risks and provides timely portfolio reporting and recommendations to senior management. The position also plays a key role in driving process optimization, digitalization, automation initiatives and the continued development of the Portfolio Monitoring & Solutions function.

List Major/Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead the Portfolio Monitoring & Solutions function supporting BBVA's Structured Trade & Commodity Finance portfolio.
  • Establish and continuously enhance monitoring policies, governance standards, operating procedures and portfolio oversight frameworks.
  • Oversee the monitoring of Commodity Borrowing Base Facilities, Inventory Finance, Warehouse Finance, Prepayments, Pre-Export Finance, Receivables Purchase Programs (RPP), Receivables Finance, Credit Insurance-backed transactions and other structured working capital facilities.
  • Review and oversee borrowing base calculations, collateral eligibility, inventory reports, warehouse reports, advance rates, reserve calculations, concentration limits and financial covenant compliance.
  • Ensure the timely identification, assessment, escalation and resolution of portfolio risks, collateral deficiencies and covenant breaches.
  • Monitor overall transaction performance throughout the lifecycle of each facility and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with Front Office during transaction onboarding, amendments, renewals, refinancings and restructurings to ensure appropriate monitoring requirements are implemented.
  • Collaborate with Credit Risk, Legal, Operations, Engineering, external collateral managers, inspection companies and clients to ensure timely reporting and effective portfolio oversight.

Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:

The Vice President operates in a highly complex, global and risk-sensitive environment overseeing a portfolio of structured financing transactions secured by commodities, inventories, receivables and other collateral assets. The role requires advanced knowledge of structured trade finance products, collateral structures, credit documentation and portfolio risk management.

The position is responsible for establishing monitoring frameworks and exercising significant independent judgment when assessing collateral performance, transaction compliance and emerging portfolio risks. Decisions and recommendations directly influence the Bank's ability to identify early warning indicators, protect collateral positions, ensure contractual compliance and minimize potential credit losses.

The role requires balancing multiple priorities across a broad portfolio while interacting with senior stakeholders throughout the organization. Strong leadership, sound risk judgment and strategic decision-making are essential, as the Vice President is responsible for influencing business decisions, improving operational controls and ensuring the effectiveness of the Bank's post-closing monitoring framework.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities/Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of Structured Trade & Commodity Finance, Asset-Based Lending, Structured Receivables Finance and related financing products.
  • Advanced understanding of borrowing base methodologies, collateral monitoring, portfolio management and structured lending principles.
  • Strong knowledge of commodity collateral, inventory controls, warehouse receipts, receivables finance structures and security packages.
  • Ability to interpret complex credit agreements, legal documentation, collateral structures and financing arrangements.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including covenant monitoring, liquidity analysis and borrower performance assessment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python or other business intelligence, reporting and automation tools.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

Management Responsibilities:

The Vice President has direct responsibility for leading thePortfolio Monitoring & Solutions function, including the recruitment, development, coaching and performance management of team members. The role establishes team objectives, allocates resources and ensures effective execution of monitoring activities across the Structured Trade & Commodity Finance portfolio.

The position is responsible for building a scalable, high-performing organization by implementing best practices, standardized operating procedures and robust governance frameworks. The Vice President provides strategic direction, promotes collaboration across business lines and fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

In addition to direct people leadership, the role exercises significant cross-functional leadership by coordinating initiatives across Front Office, Credit Risk, Legal, Operations, Engineering and external stakeholders to enhance portfolio oversight, strengthen risk controls and support the continued growth of BBVA's Structured Trade & Commodity Finance business.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $200,000 to $225,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
