Structural Project Designer | St. Louis, MO
IMEG is hiring a Structural Project Designer in St. Louis, MO. In this role, you will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger, high-complexity projects.
You will work with engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients, manage work within project budgets, train and mentor staff, and collaborate across functions to meet project goals and client expectations. The team serves structural, commercial, and institutional markets, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Do
• Lead analysis and design efforts for structural systems using a variety of building materials.
• Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards.
• Engage clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build professional relationships.
• Support consulting-project execution through project planning, budgeting, scheduling, design-progress monitoring, and documentation of client decisions.
• Analyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants on practical, efficient solutions.
• Conduct in-process reviews of structural designs, calculations, and specifications, and apply quality-control processes.
• Stay current on structural engineering trends, technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts.
• Prioritize safety and conduct work ethically and professionally.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions and seek Project Manager guidance on potential issues.
• Oversee projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases.
What You'll Bring
Required Education
• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
OR
• Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
Experience
• 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
OR
• 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
Required Skills/Abilities
• Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
• Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures
• Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
• Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
• Proficiency in the use of BIM software
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
Preferred
• Master's Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
• Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred
