The Structural Engineer will be responsible for performing structural analysis, engineering design, and technical support for a variety of marine and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
Typical projects may include port facilities, wharves, liquid cargo terminals, container terminals, cruise terminals, bulkheads, docks, piers, marinas, marine foundations, and other waterfront structures.
The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of structural engineering experience, with a strong background in steel and reinforced concrete design. Experience with marine structures, waterfront facilities, heavy civil infrastructure, or industrial construction is highly desirable.
The selected candidate will work closely with senior engineers, structural designers, project managers, and construction professionals to develop practical engineering solutions that meet client requirements, applicable design standards, project budgets, and established schedules.

Specific Responsibilities:- Performs structural analysis, calculations, and design for marine and heavy civil infrastructure projects utilizing structural steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and other applicable construction materials.
- Develops engineering designs, calculations, technical specifications, and supporting documentation in accordance with applicable engineering codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Prepares and reviews structural drawings, design details, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
- Designs and evaluates structural components and systems associated with waterfront facilities, including pile-supported structures, foundations, bulkheads, retaining walls, docks, piers, and wharves.
- Evaluates structural loading conditions, including dead loads, live loads, wind, seismic, vessel berthing and mooring forces, and other applicable environmental and operational loads.
- Performs structural assessments and engineering evaluations of existing marine and waterfront structures.
- Assists with the development of repair, rehabilitation, strengthening, and modification designs for existing structures.
- Works closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate engineering deliverables and achieve project objectives.
- Provides technical engineering support during construction, including reviewing submittals, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and assisting with field engineering issues.
- Participates in field investigations, site inspections, structural evaluations, and construction observations.
- Reviews construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to verify compliance with engineering requirements.
- Coordinates with geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to develop integrated engineering solutions.
- Assists in evaluating alternative design approaches with consideration for constructability, safety, cost-effectiveness, and long-term structural performance.
- Utilizes structural analysis and design software to perform engineering calculations and evaluate structural systems.
- Maintains accurate engineering calculations, technical reports, project documentation, and design records.
- Supports project planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure engineering deliverables are completed accurately and within established timeframes.
- Participates in internal design reviews, quality assurance activities, and technical discussions.
- Works collaboratively with the Engineering and Structural Design team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Position Requirements:A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural or geotechnical emphasis from an accredited university is required.
The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of professional structural engineering experience, preferably involving marine structures, waterfront infrastructure, heavy civil construction, or industrial facilities.
Holds a Professional Engineer (PE) licensureThe incumbent must possess a strong working knowledge of structural engineering principles, including the analysis and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
Experience with marine foundations, pile-supported structures, retaining walls, bulkheads, waterfront facilities, and other heavy civil infrastructure is highly desirable.
Additional qualifications include:
- Experience performing structural analysis, engineering calculations, and developing detailed structural designs.
- Working knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards, including ACI, AISC, ASCE, and relevant marine structural design criteria.
- Experience utilizing structural engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA-3D, or comparable analysis and design applications.
- Strong familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering design and drafting software is beneficial.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, engineering specifications, geotechnical reports, and technical documentation.
- Experience evaluating structural loading conditions and designing steel and reinforced concrete structural systems.
- Experience with structural inspections, condition assessments, and rehabilitation of existing structures is preferred.
- Experience supporting construction activities, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and resolving field engineering issues is beneficial.
- Familiarity with design-build project delivery and coordination with marine or heavy civil construction contractors is desirable.
- Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Travel, including potential international travel, is required to support project activities, field inspections, and construction operations.
The incumbent must have the ability to quickly learn the technical aspects of the business, communicate effectively, and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTSThe incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment when working at or visiting project sites. This may include hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other protective equipment required by the work performed and location.
The position may require visits to active marine construction sites, waterfront facilities, industrial locations, and other project environments. The incumbent must be capable of safely navigating these environments while performing engineering inspections and observations.
The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstances and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel.
The individual must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
