Full Job Description
NOW HIRING: We are looking for a Structural Engineer for our Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Business Unit. The Structural Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing processes and equipment to increase capacity, positively affect safety, quality and efficiency. This position is "hands-on" and involves collaborating with manufacturing employees in a metal fabrication production environment.

This is an onsite role in Winsted, MN.

Title:Structural Engineer
Location: onsite Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $81,373 - $97,803/year (Exempt)
(In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)
Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday - Friday Business Hours
Shift Differential: 1st shift - N/A

Key Roles and Responsibilities as a Structural Engineer :
  • Interpret construction plans
  • Apply industry regulations to designs
  • Accurate pole calculations and designs
  • Acute problem solving

As a Structural Engineer, you will:
  • Coordinate designs and calculations for the quotation and submittal purposes
  • Ability to identify design problems and find resolution through analysis and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Optimize pole designs for manufacturing capabilities and structure commonization within the bounds of the specifications
  • Provide innovative recommendations regarding manufacturing enhancements related to design/spec opportunities
  • Support drafting, sales, manufacturing, quality, estimating with technical analysis and expertise
  • Up to date on AASHTO standards and their application
  • Stays current to state DOT/county/municipality requirements and update designs to match
  • Influences customer specs to promote sound designs and manufacturability
  • Develop and refine design tools for efficient analysis

Role Qualifications as a Structural Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • Preferred candidates will have two (2) years of practical application of structural engineering principles; other combinations of formal training and experience may be considered
  • Knowledge in interpreting technical specifications, mechanical drawings, and engineering plans
  • Understanding of structural analysis, static loads, and wind loads
  • Experience in both ASD design and LRFD Design for structural analysis
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods
  • Ability to identify root causes, make decisions and solve problems
  • Deliver work products under limited supervision with a sense of urgency
  • Effective user in MS Office applications, particularly using Outlook and Excel
  • Effective user of ERP systems, especially Epicor
  • Use effective and appropriate written and oral communication skills including giving presentations and participating in meetings
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Adapt to changing work priorities
  • Work with others as part of a high-performance team
