Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, and home to Baystate Medical Center (BMC), and the region's only level 1 trauma center, providing services throughout western Massachusetts is looking for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist for Supply Chain.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degreein Supply Chain or Business or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing or Procurement

SCHEDULE:

  • Fulltime 40 hours per week Monday-Friday
  • Hybrid opportunity

Summary Description:

This position is responsible for the timely and cost-effective strategic sourcing of complex goods and/or services. This position advises and guides business units regarding the application and integration of procurement philosophies and techniques to meet the needs of identified internal customer requirements using a global category view. This individual is responsible for sourcing, contracting, and procuring complex categories by influencing teams with various levels of employees and management to leverage buying power and recommend appropriate procurement strategies and tactics to obtain desired results. Extensive interaction with Business Units, Leadership, Finance, and suppliers is required to ensure that total costs are identified and optimal savings are realized in executing a contract. Goods and services are reviewed by this position and managed across the network for all locations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Interfacing with and managing business units for assigned strategic sourcing area(s).

• Working with business units to plan and set targets for sourcing activity for assigned complex categories.

• Actively participating in business strategy meetings to understand direction and offer supply trend impact.

• Working on complex sourcing initiatives requires high technical, market impact, and supply base competence.

• Actively driving assigned sourcing initiatives to accomplish project milestones in accordance with the project timeline.  This includes coordination between Supply Chain Services teams, and other Network colleagues and leaders. 

• Reviewing supplier financial analysis and credential check.

• Developing sourcing initiatives, including requirements development, RFx, and supplier recommendations.

• Developing sourcing initiatives scorecard, participating in scoring, and leading the scoring team through the process.

• Ensuring high-quality customer service, including conducting sourcing analysis and addressing sourcing-related questions and problems.

•Analyzing supplier proposals and facilitating fact-based supplier selection processes; preparing Deal Reviews for leadership.

• Balancing strategy development with the tactical execution necessary throughout all procurement processes.

• Developing technical and market expertise in assigned categories, including knowledge of changes in the industry.

• Performing market/supplier analysis at the base level, understanding key business drivers, and translating into key supply arrangements and processes to fit business requirements

• Gathering/analyzing customer requirements and facilitating buy-in to support the setting of category strategies for assigned categories.

• Meeting with members of the strategic sourcing teams to review the status of progress against the category plan.

• Facilitating implementation activities for new and existing corporate contracts.

• Leveraging market data, external expert resources, spend analytics, and cost modeling to drive fact-based decision-making.

• Ensuring savings are delivered promptly and achieving the realization of expected benefits.

• Driving continuous improvements.

• Supporting supplier diversity and sustainability goals by explaining them and advocating for diverse suppliers and sustainable options when they are viable.

Skills/Competencies:

- 5+ years of:

o Experience in the facilitation and negotiating of contracts.

o Developing, initiating, and managing sourcing strategies with tactical processing capabilities.

o Building/leading/influencing effective cross-functional teams.

o Managing diverse stakeholder interests and expectations.

o Building strategic supplier relationships.

o Team interaction and project management experience.

o Effectively communicating (verbal and written) with a wide range of customers and team members.

o Application of supply chain management and practices.

o Knowledge of healthcare industry market trends and dynamics

o Demonstrated capability in strategically sourcing corporate services and/or commodities.

o Facilitating day-to-day operational and strategic objectives.

o Personal Computing, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.

o ERP (Procure to Pay preferred), e-Procurement, and sourcing systems/tools.

o Identifying and implementing sourcing objectives and goals that support organizational strategies.

o Problem-solving, financial, and analytical process skills.

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
