Full Job Description
Amazon is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join the Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team that has a meaningful and measurable impact on Amazon's success. We are seeking a skilled Strategic Sourcing Manager with experience leading complex sourcing initiatives across Employee Services.

Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and form partnerships with business leaders, and operational excellence in managing multiple complex and competing priorities simultaneously. Strategic Sourcing Managers are expert practitioners in the tools for creating competitive environments and have a bias for decision-making rooted in data and analytics. They routinely influence vendor relationships by advising Amazon leaders across multiple stakeholder groups on the direction of sourcing projects in support of business goals. If you are looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, innovative company, come make history with Amazon's Global Corporate Procurement department.

At Amazon, we believe that in-person collaboration is essential to our culture and innovation. While we allow flexibility for personal circumstances, we generally expect employees to work from our offices five days a week. This approach has consistently shown that spontaneous interactions, rapid problem-solving, and the energy of in-person teamwork led to better results for our customers. Our data shows that teams working together in person are more effective at making complex decisions, onboarding new team members, and fostering the kind of creative collaboration that has driven Amazon's success. The serendipitous hallway conversations and impromptu whiteboarding sessions that happen naturally in an office environment have proven invaluable to our invention process and maintaining our high bar for excellence.

Key job responsibilities

- Establishing strong relationships with internal business stakeholders; building a strong understanding of strategic business direction, requirements and priorities across assigned suppliers and/or spend categories

- Dive deep across multiple business units to leverage our supplier base with the goal of optimizing performance, quality, and cost

- Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking; leveraging key-insights to inform and support the strategic sourcing strategy development process

- Managing the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation

- Identifying sourcing opportunities by leveraging spend analysis tools and engage with stakeholders to consolidate requirements over categories, suppliers and geographies

- Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, optimizing the return on investment and total cost of ownership

- Providing guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement processes and best-practice tools, such as category management, supplier evaluation and supplier diversity

A day in the life

Your morning might start with a cross-functional alignment call for an upcoming RFP involving three business units, followed by analyzing bid responses and building a recommendation deck for senior leadership. After lunch, you're on a negotiation call with a strategic supplier's C-suite to finalize contract terms, then pivoting to a spend review with Finance to validate savings actuals against targets. You'll close the day by coaching a business partner through the supplier evaluation framework for an upcoming engagement. No two days look the same - you'll balance long-range strategic planning with hands-on execution, often managing five or more active sourcing engagements simultaneously across different stages of the lifecycle.

You'll be joining a team where your work is visible to senior leadership and directly tied to Amazon's bottom line.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in an indirect procurement function at a multinational corporation

- Proficiency in best-in-class procurement processes, including category management, benchmarking, should-cost modeling, RFx, reverse auctions, and contract development

- 5+ years of experience developing, leading, negotiating, and executing end-to-end sourcing engagements

- Demonstrated experience in Employee Services and HR-related procurement, including sourcing and managing spend in areas such as HR Services, Employee Benefits, and/or Pharmacy/Drug Programs, with a track record in vendor strategy development, competitive bidding, and contract negotiations
