Identify innovative suppliers for captive powertrain components and collaborate with cross-functional business partners to optimize the total cost of ownership for Daimler Truck customers. Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000.00 - $121,000.00 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience

What You Drive at DTNA

Partner with Engineering in early product development:

  • Collaborate with engineering in early product development stages to understand technical requirements.
  • Identify excellent suppliers capable of meeting design, manufacturing, and material specifications.
  • Work together with Engineering to develop and validate new strong, capable, and innovative supplier partners.

Develop business cases and sourcing recommendations considering multifaceted complex tradeoffs such as:

  • Develop sourcing strategies.
  • Optimization of total cost of ownership.
  • Local regulatory requirements vs. global platform synergies.
  • Best Cost Country vs. local-for-local production scenarios.
  • Multi-source vs. single source supplier strategies.
  • In-house vs. external supplier supplied components.

Implement sourcing strategies with supplier partners

  • Responsible for new product projects, series products, technical changes, premise changes and cost optimization initiatives.

Create contractual framework and implement contracts with supplier partners:

  • Derive contract language with oversight and support from internal legal counsel.
  • Negotiate contracts including pricing, pricing adjustments, Terms and Conditions, Long Term Agreement, Supplier Quality Agreement, Warranty Agreement, Aftermarket Agreement with supplier partners.
  • Interpret contractual obligations and remedies to manage supplier disputes to resolution.

Lead cost optimization and special vendor recovery initiatives with cross-functional and supplier partners:

  • Negotiate special vendor recovery topics such as field failures, project delays, technical specification non-compliance, and constraint costs.
  • Lead cost optimization initiatives such as VAVE, de-contenting, alternative materials, and more.

Represent Daimler Truck as the preferred partner of best-in-class suppliers:

Collaborate with and support cross-functional business partners on a broad range of supplier related topics,

  • Project deliverables,
  • Volume and capacity planning,
  • Manufacturing efficiencies,
  • Cash flow optimization,
  • Import customs and duties compliance,
  • Logistic route optimization, and
  • Warehousing,
  • Adherence to the agreed contractual obligations.
  • Drive data transparency to support fact-based negotiations to deliver cost targets

Risk assessment and mitigation activities:

  • Perform bottom up planning for commodity and supplier-related material costs including, raw material, foreign exchange rate, and other inflationary costs such as energy and labor.
  • Derive, negotiate, and implement risk mitigation initiatives with supplier partners.

Integrity and Compliance:

  • Upholding the values of Daimler Truck and adhering to governmental law and company policy.
  • Make fact-based and unbiased procurement decisions based on the most favourable outcome for the company.
  • Respect the rules and enforce them to ensure free and fair competition.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Materials Science, Logistics, ora relatedtechnical field and 5-7 years experience in Procurement, is required

  • Ability to engage in negotiation and overall alignment with suppliers and internal team

  • Team player, strong collaborator.

  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • An attached resume is required.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Automotive industry experience, highly preferred.

  • Experience working for a global company withdemonstratedability to connect and work across cultures and regions.

  • Negotiation experience withglobalsupply base.

  • Experience inpurchasingprocesses, documentation,complianceand tracking.
