Job title: Strategic Partnerships Manager
Reports to: VP, Priority Commerce - Revenue Management
Department: Central Services
Location: Remote
Grade: 18
About the Role:
The Strategic Partnerships Manager is responsible for advancing high-value commercial opportunities from initial executive or partner sponsorship through contract execution and transition to implementation.
The Strategic Partnerships Manager serves as the commercial owner once a qualified opportunity has been introduced through executive leadership, strategic partners, or other relationship-driven channels. The role creates structure and momentum around the deal, coordinates internal and external stakeholders, works through commercial and contractual requirements, and ensures prospects have a clear understanding of Priority's operating model, responsibilities, and expectations before implementation begins.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Deal Execution
- Take ownership of qualified strategic opportunities once they have been sourced by executive leadership, external partners, Business Development, or other internal channels.
- Establish and manage the deal plan, including key milestones, outstanding decisions, dependencies, stakeholders, and target close dates.
- Maintain consistent momentum throughout the closing process and proactively identify issues that could delay execution.
- Coordinate follow-up across internal teams and the prospective client to ensure commitments, decisions, and deliverables are completed on time.
- Serve as a primary point of coordination for the prospect during the commercial closing phase.
Commercial & Contract Coordination
- Lead discussions regarding commercial terms and conditions within established deal parameters.
- Coordinate contract review and redline resolution between the prospect, Legal, Sales, Revenue Management, Risk & Compliance, and other internal stakeholders.
- Help translate contractual or operational requirements into clear business terms for prospective clients.
- Escalate non-standard commercial terms, pricing exceptions, contractual risks, or other deal considerations to the appropriate decision-makers.
- Ensure final commercial structures are consistent with approved pricing, economics, and deal frameworks.
Banking, Treasury & Regulatory Expectations
- Help prospects understand Priority Commerces' operating model and their respective responsibilities within the relationship.
- Clearly communicate client obligations associated with money movement, including applicable operational, compliance, and licensing considerations.
- Partner with Risk & Compliance, Legal, Treasury, and Operations when additional guidance or clarification is required.
- Ensure material responsibilities, dependencies, and requirements are understood before contractual commitments are finalized.
- Identify potential operational or regulatory concerns early in the process and engage appropriate subject-matter experts.
Deal Coordination & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Bring together the appropriate internal stakeholders to resolve open commercial, contractual, operational, technical, or compliance-related issues.
- Facilitate deal meetings and maintain clear documentation of decisions, owners, and next steps.
- Create visibility into deal status and escalate unresolved issues that may jeopardize timing or execution.
- Partner closely with executive sponsors while increasingly assuming responsibility for the day-to-day progression of the opportunity.
- Maintain accurate deal status, notes, milestones, and next steps within the CRM or applicable sales management tools.
Client Transition & Onboarding Readiness
- Prepare clients for a successful transition from the sales process into implementation.
- Introduce the appropriate onboarding and implementation resources at the right stage of the deal.
- Ensure onboarding teams receive clear documentation regarding the agreed commercial structure, client expectations, commitments, requirements, and known complexities.
- Facilitate a formal handoff between the client, executive or sales sponsor, and onboarding team.
- Stay engaged through the transition period when necessary to resolve commitments or questions originating during the sales process.
Sales & Executive Opportunity Support
- Support executive leadership and senior sales resources on strategically important or complex opportunities.
- Develop a strong understanding of Priority's capabilities across payments, banking, treasury, and related financial technology solutions.
- Participate in client conversations and help translate the executive-level vision into a defined commercial path forward.
- Provide structure and follow-through that allows senior executives and relationship owners to focus on relationship development and strategic selling.
- Support strategic opportunities originating through referral partners and other externally sourced relationships.
What Success Looks Like:
- Strategic opportunities maintain momentum from executive introduction through contract execution.
- Deals have clearly documented next steps, owners, dependencies, and timelines.
- Contract redlines and commercial questions are actively managed rather than waiting on individual stakeholders.
- Prospects understand key commercial, operational, compliance, and money-movement responsibilities before signing.
- Internal stakeholders are engaged early enough to prevent avoidable surprises late in the sales process.
- Executive sponsors spend less time managing administrative deal progression and more time focused on strategic relationships.
- Onboarding teams receive complete, accurate handoffs with minimal need to revisit commitments made during the sales process.
- Strategic deals move from qualified opportunity to signed agreement efficiently without sacrificing appropriate commercial or risk discipline.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2-5 years of experience in banking, treasury management, payments, fintech, commercial banking, business development, sales, or a related client-facing financial services role.
- Working knowledge of treasury services, payment flows, commercial banking products, or money movement.
- Experience supporting client negotiations, commercial agreements, implementations, or complex relationship management.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple active opportunities simultaneously.
- Ability to coordinate across Legal, Compliance, Operations, Product, Finance, and Sales.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working directly with clients and senior internal leaders.
- Ability to understand complex issues and translate them into clear decisions, responsibilities, and next steps.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within fintech, payments, treasury management, commercial banking, or embedded finance.
- Exposure to contract negotiation and commercial agreement redlines.
- Familiarity with money transmission, sponsored banking models, payment processing, ACH, wires, or related regulatory considerations.
- Experience supporting enterprise or strategic client opportunities
