POSITION: State and Local Tax - Income and Franchise Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:
As the Income/Franchise Tax Manager, you'll deliver a full range of tax planning, consulting, and compliance services for multiple clients with the resources, environment, and support to help you excel. You'll collaborate with the Income/Franchise team and lead staff on various tax matters across all phases of project and engagement management.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage, direct, and monitor multiple client services teams on client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects across a wide variety of industries; provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; and manage budget
- Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
- Deliver a full range of State and Local Tax services including tax return preparation and review, tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence, and counseling clients in defending against state audits
- Manage multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews that analyze income, franchise, sales and use, payroll, ad valorem taxes, and others to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits and incentives, and corporate structures that can reduce the client's tax burden
- Consult with and service clients to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor
- Support business development activities, such as identification, proposal development, and other pursuit activities at clients
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum six years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience
- Active CPA license in California, JD with active law license in good standing, or Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to manage various project tasks simultaneously; ultimate responsibility for overall project and deliverables
- Ability to travel as needed
COMPENSATION:
Base salary range: $138,000 - $172,500 annually. Placement within the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, progression within the role, geographic location, and internal equity. This position includes an annual bonus.
