Full Job Description
THE ROLE:

AMD's Product Development Group is seeking an experienced Systems Test and Validation Engineer to support our industry-leading Data Center GPU products for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications. In this highly technical role, you will develop manufacturing test strategies, diagnostic solutions, and automation infrastructure that enable successful product introduction and high-volume production.

Working at AMD's manufacturing site, you will collaborate across hardware, software, architecture, design, product engineering, and manufacturing teams to bring up complex platforms, resolve system-level issues, improve yield and quality, and deliver scalable test solutions to our global manufacturing partners.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is a hands-on systems test and validation engineer with deep experience debugging complex data center hardware and software platforms. You combine strong knowledge of computer architecture, Linux operating environments, manufacturing test, and automation with the technical leadership needed to solve novel, non-recurring problems.

You are analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while influencing geographically distributed teams. You communicate effectively across disciplines, build strong working relationships, and are motivated by advancing the manufacturing and validation of GPU-based AI, ML, and HPC systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing test strategies for new products and features, including the identification, specification, design, and qualification of test fixtures, equipment, diagnostic software, and supporting infrastructure
  • Define scalable board- and system-level hardware test methodologies and manufacturing processes
  • Lead system bring-up and debug of complex hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing issues during product build phases
  • Develop and support automated diagnostic generation, test content, and validation infrastructure using Python and other scripting languages
  • Review product designs during early development and provide Design for Testability (DFT) recommendations
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to improve test coverage, yield, quality, production efficiency, and product reliability
  • Identify and lead product and process improvement initiatives that reduce manufacturing cost and resolve quality issues
  • Investigate and introduce new manufacturing test technologies, tools, and methodologies
  • Analyze complex and non-recurring technical problems and lead significant improvements to existing processes and methods
  • Support manufacturing partners during new product introduction, production ramp, and sustaining phases
  • Influence technical direction across hardware, software, architecture, design, and manufacturing organizations
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across geographically distributed teams

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong experience with post-silicon system integration, including test programs, test content, diagnostics, and supporting collateral
  • Expertise with system-level software and test environments, including BKC, IFWI, BIOS, firmware, boot processes, Machine Check Architecture (MCA), and POST codes
  • Strong knowledge of system hardware, including motherboards, SMCs, BMCs, voltage regulators, FPGAs, and related components
  • Experience with SoC and platform bring-up and debug of complex hardware, firmware, and software issues
  • Platform-level debug experience involving ICT, MDA, memory, IFoE, PCIe, thermal systems, and power management
  • Experience developing manufacturing tests, patterns or vectors, timing, and diagnostics using Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and reliability test methodologies, including HVQK, burn-in, DPPM, and RMA testing
  • Proficiency with Python and scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Ruby, or shell scripting
  • Programming experience with C, C++, C#, or Java
  • Solid understanding of IPMI, PCIe, BMCs, and thermal solutions
  • Experience with Linux or Unix operating systems and computer architecture
  • Experience using revision-control systems such as Git, SVN, CVS, or RCS
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across large, multifunctional hardware, software, architecture, design, product engineering, and manufacturing teams

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline; master's degree preferred
