We9re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help us build a high-performance, efficient, and easy to use batch processing platform and infrastructure at Pinterest. You9ll be working on some of the most exciting big data open source technologies such as Spark, Presto/Trino, Iceberg, etc. at the scale of hundreds of petabytes of data to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love. What you9ll do: 3 Design, implement, and optimize Pinterest9s batch processing infrastructure. 3 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs. 3 Lead technical projects and initiatives, driving them to completion. 3 Mentor and guide junior engineers on best practices and architecture. 3 Ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of data systems. What we9re looking for: 3 6+ years of experience building and supporting large scalable big data infrastructure/platforms 3 Extensive experience with big data query technologies such as Spark SQL or Presto/Trino. 3 Proven skills in designing and maintaining scalable data infrastructure. 3 Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Scala, or Python. 3 Strong problem-solving abilities and a drive for innovation. 3 Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams. 3 Bachelor9s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience. In-Office Requirement Statement: 3 We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we9re not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection. 3 This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter, and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
