Full Job Description
The opportunity

AI has made coding and prototyping faster. Game asset production and integration have not seen equivalent gains across images, 3D models, audio, and animation. The AI Generators team is building a platform for developers to create, modify, and incorporate high-quality assets into games through natural language, reusable tools, and APIs. This gives creators the convenience, artistic control, and interoperability their workflows need to bring their ideas to life.

You will help shape how these tools evolve alongside advances in generative AI and agentic development. That means exposing new capabilities and evaluating quality in agentic loops with appropriate human-in-the-loop oversight, so more people can build games and experts can realize their creative vision with less time and effort.

You will own the shared API and SDK layer that Unity products consume, and work across the orchestration and partner integration layers that sit behind it. Unity is the engine behind a large share of the games people play. This platform defines how generative AI capabilities reach those creators inside the workflows they already use.

What you'll be doing
  • Owning APIs and SDKs powering AI asset creation experiences through the entire lifecycle of design, delivery, and support.
  • Ensuring backend services are secure, reliable, and observable, and that they account for failure and recovery scenarios using infrastructure as code.
  • Developing and maintaining new integrations in tight collaboration with our partners to enable improvements to asset workflows.
  • Setting the patterns and practices for AI-assisted development across the team, with appropriate guardrails, feedback loops, and architectural oversight to keep production code quality high as the team's velocity increases.
  • Supporting and improving the team's CI, release, and incident management processes to drive continuous improvement into the system from classes of support issues.
  • Partnering with product, design, and engineering functions across Unity AI to shape the roadmap for appropriate investment in features vs. foundational health.

What we're looking for
  • Extensive experience with C# / .NET building production web APIs. Experience with TypeScript is a plus.
  • Comfort working at multiple levels of abstraction, from the high-level architecture of a feature through developing and supporting the code for it.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership driving architectural decisions broader than a single team and raising the technical judgement of the engineers around you.
  • Track record of designing and evolving APIs and SDKs consumed by multiple teams or external developers, accounting for versioning lifecycle and compatibility validation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with successful experience aligning multiple stakeholders to deliver complex solutions.
  • Expertise with cloud offerings including databases, publish-subscribe systems, and observability stacks, plus familiarity with the application patterns where each is appropriate.
  • Proven expertise in debugging, profiling, and optimizing applications in a production environment, including evolving an existing service as scale or interaction complexity grows.

You might also have
  • Experience with Azure or GCP cloud platforms and their offerings.
  • Familiarity with Unity or other 3D engines and game asset pipelines.
  • Experience with generative AI and related model capabilities, their evaluation and usage in game development.
  • Multi-tenant enterprise platform experience: entitlements, metering, usage controls.
