Job SummaryLangan is seeking a
Staff Scientist to join its Natural Resources team in
Arlington, VA. This individual will serve a key function in assisting with the natural resource planning, assessment and natural resource permitting of land development and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner cross-functionally with top industry leadership on a variety of land development and infrastructure projects.
Job Responsibilities- Assists with the natural resource planning, assessment and permitting of land development and infrastructure projects;
- Performs natural resource and permitting compliance assessments, and determines the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected natural resource related data;
- Prepares natural resource assessments and figures using GIS and AutoCAD software;
- Effectively uses reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess natural resources and their impact on the planning and design of projects;
- Provides field inspection and natural resource identification services, as needed; and
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or Planning;
- 0+ years of experience in natural resource assessment and permitting;
- Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting;
- Strong GIS and AutoCAD skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
- Ability to occasionally participate in field work and work during evenings and/or weekends, when necessary;
- Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required; and
- Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
Pay Range
$68,250-$93,000 USD
