Staff Embedded Software Engineer

Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation and testing of embedded control software to be used within Kearfott's next generation of guidance and navigation products. This includes participation in requirements definition, software design and implementation, peer review, software test and validation, and generation of supporting documentation.

The Staff Engineer is a highly experienced engineering professional responsible for leading complex projects, providing technical expertise, and driving innovation within the organization. This role involves designing, analyzing, testing, and optimizing engineering solutions while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The Senior Engineer ensures compliance with industry standards, enhances processes, and contributes to strategic engineering initiatives.

Minimum required skills/qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong development skills with C/C++ programming languages
  • Minimum 7+ years of embedded or control systems programming
  • Experience with debugging strategies for embedded systems including emulators and logic analyzers
  • Ability to collaborate with a team of engineers and support staff in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong engineering writing and documentation skills
  • Must be a US Citizen


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with additional programming languages such as Python. Ada knowledge a plus
  • Real time application design experience
  • Model based software development using tools such as SCADE, Simulink, MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers and digital signal processors
  • Ability to interpret electronics schematics
  • Experience with inertial navigation concepts
  • Experience with DO-178C software certification process

All work to be performed on site in our Pine Brook, NJ facilities.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $153,000 - $167,000 Annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
