Job Description:Drive high-impact deployments at the intersection of data intelligence, AI, and governance. As a Staff Deployment Strategist, you act as a hands-on builder and trusted technical advisor, partnering with customer stakeholders to design, build, and embed agentic solutions using Alation's configuration-first platform. You lead complex deployments end-to-end - from discovery through value realization - translating ambiguous requirements into enterprise-grade outcomes.
You are not just an advisor; you are a builder. You work closely with senior customer stakeholders - typically Directors and Sr. Directors, with executive exposure common but usually partnered with account leadership - to shape a deployment's direction, then roll up your sleeves to prototype and configure the AI agents, analytical workflows, and governance patterns that bring it to life. You raise delivery standards and reduce risk through anticipation, not heroics.
What You'll DoSolution Design & Discovery- Diagnose & Design: Lead discovery sessions with customer stakeholders to surface business challenges, data and governance gaps, and high-value opportunities for AI automation.
- Rapid Prototyping: Rapidly prototype and validate AI agent solutions using Alation's platform - build functional low/no-code prototypes and proof-of-concept agents to validate hypotheses and demonstrate value.
- Value Framing: Define KPIs and value measures for the engagement; build a defensible, data-backed value story that links technical work to customer outcomes.
- Solution Architecture: Architect scalable, maintainable configuration-first solutions across a customer's ecosystem, balancing quick wins with long-term maintainability; make sound configuration-vs-customization tradeoffs.
Delivery Ownership & Client Integration- End-to-End Delivery: Own complex deployment delivery across multiple workstreams, stakeholder groups, and system integrations - from discovery through design, build, and consumption.
- Operational Integration: Drive consumption and change plans so solutions are embedded, not just installed - including enablement, workflow integration, and governance reinforcement.
- Stakeholder Facilitation: Run high-impact workshops and facilitate decisions across conflicting stakeholder goals; regularly engage Directors/Sr. Directors, with exec engagement common but typically partnered with account leadership.
- Scope & Risk Management: Proactively manage scope, risk, and interdependencies across workstreams; course-correct early rather than relying on heroics.
- Feedback Loop: Provide structured product feedback - patterns, gaps, recurring friction - to improve the platform and delivery playbooks.
Value Realization & Growth- Value Realization: Contribute to and help deliver Executive Business Reviews (EBRs), presenting outcomes and impact with supporting data.
- Expansion Support: Identify expansion opportunities that surface from delivered outcomes and partner with the account team to pursue them.
- Reusable Patterns: Create reusable patterns, accelerators, and playbooks that other Deployment Strategists adopt - not just strong individual delivery.
What You Bring- Experience: 6 years in management consulting (strategy, operations, tech) or forward-deployed solution roles at data platform companies.
- Technical Fluency: Hands-on with data (SQL essential); familiar with Python, APIs, and modern data architectures. You can read code, work in SQL, and build in low/no-code platforms, and hold your own with a technical team - but you're not writing production software.
- Stakeholder Presence: Strong communication skills and presence with Director/Sr. Director-level stakeholders; comfortable in exec-facing moments, typically alongside account leadership.
- Builder Portfolio: Demonstrated track record of building and deploying low/no-code solutions, and moving them from prototype to production.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem solver who synthesizes ambiguity - across workstreams, systems, and stakeholders - into clear, actionable plans.
- AI & Data Governance: Working understanding of AI agent patterns, LLMs, data governance, and metadata management (preferred).
- Education: Technical undergraduate or graduate program preferred. An advanced degree (MBA, technical Master's) is a plus, but demonstrated impact and leadership matter most.
- Travel: Ability to travel for customer and prospect onsite visits (approx. 15-30%).
