Description

The Staff Civil Engineer will work on project teams throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects.
  • Lead civil engineering efforts for assigned projects and support larger multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Perform civil site design for electrical substations, switching stations, and related utility infrastructure, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, access roads, and site development.
  • Prepare drainage reports and specialized engineering calculations.
  • Coordinate with clients, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, permitting agencies, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to develop and execute project designs.
  • Manage assigned civil scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Support permitting activities and coordinate with local, state, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Participate in client meetings, site visits, and construction support activities.
  • Respond to RFIs and support construction-phase engineering efforts.
  • Direct, mentor, and provide technical guidance to assistant engineers and designers.
  • Comply with company safety requirements, quality processes, and engineering procedures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. and 3 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred required.
  • Or bachelor's degree in civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. and 3 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred required.
  • Or master's degree in civil engineering and 2 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred required.
  • Strong knowledge in standard civil engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification strongly preferred.
