Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead with a technical background in Mechanical Engineering. This position is located in Linthicum, MD.

This IPT Lead will be required to lead an engineering team working to transition designs to production for the Chilled Water program with many time-critical elements and high management visibility. They will interface with personnel in Engineering & Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Mission Assurance. In addition, they will brief internal, and potentially external customer, leadership on progress.

The selected candidate will perform in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings. The selected candidate is expected to be self-motivated, highly organized, detail oriented and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

This role is contingent upon Program Award, and upon candidates having an Active and current Secret government clearance.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Active and current Secret government clearance
  • Experience with hardware design and/or hardware integration & test and/or experience moving hardware through the BWI factory
  • Experience with Control Account Manager (CAM) activities and the Earned Value Management system (EVMS)
  • Fluency with developing and executing project schedules
  • Experience reporting project status to program, functional management and/or customers
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with 1.5 years minimum experience as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, program manager or other leadership position leading engineers supporting a program or business function
  • Available onsite at the BWI facility during first shift
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or STEM-related degree, with 12 years of industry experience, or master's degree and 10 years of industry experience
  • Mechanically focused engineer with experience making drawing updates, pushing drawings through HWE process, and conducting design reviews.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, execute and lead a hardware team to meet cost, schedule and technical performance
  • Experience identifying and quantifying risks/opportunities
  • Experience working with Global Supply Chain and Manufacturing Material Processing
  • Experience with the Root Cause Correction Action (RCCA) process
  • Experience managing products in the critical path of a program
  • Experience with LRU/LRM Integration and testing for an EMD product transitioning to production
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Expert on NGMS production drawing process, can execute drawings reviews and manage updates to meet all NGMS requirements, able to push through blockers
  • Strong RF and Thermal background
  • Knowledgeable on SEWIP/ SEWIP family of systems, prior work on SEWIP inTOP or other shipboard RF systems


Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
