Overview

The Sr Welding Engineer is responsible for assessing and maintaining welding procedures and ensuring the company is employing proper welding practices. This position is an individual contributor role requiring advanced knowledge in CB&I Storage Solutions, its product line and industry welding practices. The role directly reports to the regional operations lead and routinely interacts with the regional quality team

Responsibilities
• Regional SME with advanced knowledge in welding procedures/practices.
• Produce contract specific inspection and test plans
• Compile engineering deliverables into a Field Contract Instruction Handbook, which provides the instructions, procedures and documents used to perform and record welding, inspection and testing of products.
• Communicate with Project Management to provide project support for welding, NDE, test planning and scheduling.
• Communicate with field supervision to provide project support and guidance with application of welding, NDE and testing procedures.
• Instructs field supervision on the collection and recording of field produced test results and records.
• Maintains on-site presence to view and verify quality performance.
• Provides guidance to field crews in the application of welding and NDE testing procedures.
• Capable of independently investigating problems resolving Non Conformance Reports (NCR)
• Lead site activities for Post Weld Heat Treatment and Pressure Testing of products
• Assists Safety Department when needed with special safety aspects of welding, burning, and testing
• Review customer specifications and provide technical advice to Estimating to cover welding & quality risks to assure lowest installed cost
• Perform periodic welding inspections and quality control activities on all projects to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Conduct visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and other testing methods to verify weld quality and integrity.
• Monitor welding procedures and techniques to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Establish Inspection Test Plans (ITP) based on contractual and code requirements.
• Stay updated with industry advancements, codes, and regulations related to welding and quality control.

Local Requirements
• Extensive knowledge of GMAW, FCAW and SAW
• Working knowledge of destructive weld test methods
• Program Languages: KAREL, RAPID, INFORM, KRL and G-Code

Qualifications
• 5-10 years of relevant experience
• Professional Degree Preferred (Weld Engineering Preferred)
• Experience programming semi-automatic, automatic or robotic welding systems
• Extensive Experience in Welding procedures, practices and equipment
• Holds certifications in common weld or NDE processes
• Knowledge of Engineering, Fabrication, and Construction methods
• Familiarity with the Energy industry and Plate Structures products preferred
