Full Job Description
This position is based in Lake Orion, Michigan, supporting transportation operations for General Motors. We are seeking an experienced Terminal Manager to lead all aspects of daily transportation operations, including driver management, customer relations, safety, compliance, service performance, and financial results. The Terminal Manager will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence while maintaining strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and customer leadership.

What You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for terminal operations supporting General Motors
  • Manage drivers, dispatchers, supervisors, and administrative personnel across multiple shifts
  • Ensure all customer service, delivery, and operational performance expectations are consistently achieved
  • Oversee daily transportation planning, dispatch operations, route management, and fleet utilization
  • Maintain strong working relationships with General Motors leadership and customer representatives
  • Lead employee development, performance management, coaching, and succession planning efforts
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, safety standards, and customer requirements
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service, safety, productivity, retention, and cost control
  • Manage terminal budgets, labor costs, overtime, maintenance expenses, and operating performance
  • Investigate and resolve service failures, customer concerns, accidents, and operational issues
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and staffing initiatives to meet operational demands
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence
  • Maintain accountability for fleet performance, driver compliance, vehicle utilization, and service execution

What We're Looking For:
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or fleet operations
  • Previous experience managing drivers, dispatch teams, supervisors, and operational staff
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations, transportation operations, fleet management, and customer service requirements
  • Experience supporting dedicated transportation or automotive operations preferred
  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships and drive operational performance
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Experience managing budgets, labor costs, and operational metrics
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • Valid driver's license required
