Sr. Sustainability Specialist within the Global Clean Fuels (GCF) program under Worldwide Operations Sustainability (WWOS). Owns techno-economic and lifecycle assessment modeling for low-carbon fuel pathways, develops and manages a portfolio of technology pilots, and translates technical analysis and pilot results into investment recommendations that drive Amazon's fuel decarbonization strategy across its global transportation network.
Key job responsibilities
Techno-Economic Analysis & Lifecycle Assessment
- Own bottom-up, process-based TEA models for multiple LCF pathways; apply learning rates and scenario analysis across key cost drivers to forecast cost trajectories and inform go/no-go investment decisions
- Conduct lifecycle carbon intensity analyses using established LCA frameworks and carbon accounting standards to guide feedstock and technology selection
- Advance TEA/LCA methodologies and build scalable analytical infrastructure and decision frameworks that grow with the program's fuel volumes, pathways, and geographic scope
Technology Pilot Portfolio Management
Manage a portfolio of concurrent LCF technology pilots across multiple TRL stages:
- Run stage-gate reviews from scoping through pilot to scale-up decision; translate results into updated TEA/LCA projections with go/no-go recommendations
- Coordinate timelines, partner deliverables, and funding across cross-functional stakeholders
- Build scalable playbooks for technology evaluation and pilot management
Feedstock & Supply Analysis
- Model feedstock availability, cost curves, and sustainability across supply chains; evaluate novel feedstocks for CI impact and scalability
- Model delivered costs across geographies to inform deployment sequencing
Program Leadership & Influence
- Advise senior leadership through written narratives (six-pagers, business reviews) and own technical inputs to annual planning
- Build repeatable mechanisms and decision tools that raise the bar across the program
- Mentor sustainability specialists and analysts; participate in hiring and promotion
About the team
WWOS sets the strategy and interim targets for Amazon Operations to achieve the Climate Pledge, which is our commitment to net-zero carbon by 2040. WWOS coordinates across all regions and business units, driving resource allocation and decision-making on sustainability topics that span the global operations network.
Within WWOS, the GCF program leads Amazon's effort to decarbonize its transportation and distribution network through LCF adoption globally. The team evaluates emerging fuel technologies, manages producer partnerships and technology pilots, and builds the techno-economic frameworks that drive investment decisions.
