Full Job Description
Role Summary

The T. Rowe Price Multi-Asset Front Office Technology team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and enhance a suite of next-generation, cloud-native applications that support our Investment Division.

This is a hands-on, full-stack senior engineering role where you will independently solve complex business and technical challenges, influence solution design, and contribute across the full product lifecycle, from architecture and development through deployment, support, and continuous enhancement.

In this role, you will partner closely with colleagues across technology and the business, including portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, traders, and senior stakeholders. We are looking for someone who brings strong engineering judgment, ownership, collaboration, and the ability to lead technical discussions, mentor others, and deliver high-quality solutions that make an impact.

At T. Rowe Price, we value diverse perspectives, inclusive teamwork, and continuous development. We encourage candidates to apply even if their experience does not align perfectly with every qualification listed, particularly if they bring strong engineering fundamentals, learning agility, business curiosity, and a passion for building modern technology solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Own the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of high-quality, scalable applications that support Multi-Asset investment workflows
  • Translate complex business needs into practical, maintainable technical solutions in partnership with product owners, investment professionals, and technology stakeholders
  • Contribute to technical design decisions, architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering standards across the team
  • Apply modern software engineering practices, including agile delivery, continuous integration and delivery, automated testing, refactoring, and secure coding principles
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement durable solutions that improve system reliability and performance
  • Mentor and support other engineers by sharing knowledge, promoting best practices, and contributing to an inclusive, collaborative team environment

Qualifications

Required:
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a related field with meaningful mathematical and computing content, or equivalent practical experience
  • Typically 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on experience designing, building, testing, and supporting production applications
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code
  • Experience with modern frameworks and development tools such as Pandas, React, Node.js, and Spring Boot
  • Experience designing and deploying solutions using modern cloud technologies, including containerization, serverless architectures, and related DevOps practices
  • A quality-focused approach to software development, including experience with automated testing practices and tools such as TDD, BDD, Cucumber, and Cypress
  • Experience with one or more database technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Redshift
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical partners
  • Hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications, intelligent workflows, or agentic systems using modern LLMs and AI development frameworks.

Preferred:
  • Experience with web-based development and visualization technologies used to represent large and complex datasets and relationships
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts relevant to the role, such as statistics, time-series analysis, asset pricing theory, or optimization algorithms
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and scalable application design
  • Understanding of Multi-Asset investment strategies, financial instruments, derivatives, and capital markets
  • Experience partnering directly with front office business clients, such as Portfolio Managers, Quants, and Traders
  • Experience mentoring engineers, improving team practices, or helping raise engineering standards across a product team
  • Practical experience with modern AI engineering patterns such as agent orchestration, tool/function calling, retrieval-based systems, prompt and context engineering, structured outputs, evaluation, observability, or guardrails.
  • Experience taking AI-enabled systems beyond prototypes toward production, including testing, monitoring, reliability, security, and operational considerations.
  • Familiarity with modern AI engineering patterns such as agent orchestration, tool integration, retrieval-based systems, evaluation approaches, monitoring, or guardrails is a plus.
