About the Role:The SEC Reporting Senior Analyst will support the end-to-end external financial reporting, technical accounting and equity-related accounting and reporting processes for Grocery Outlet. This role will assist the SEC Reporting Manager and Assistant Controller with the preparation, review, tie-out and timely filing of the Company's financial reporting requirements, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy materials, earnings release materials, financial statements, footnote disclosures, supporting schedules, and related documentation. The role also includes the detail preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, footnote disclosures and internal reporting over equity and share-based award compensation. The individual will partner cross-functionally with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal, Investor Relations, Internal Audit, external auditors and other business partners, ensuring that reporting is accurate, complete, well-supported, consistent with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, and compliant with SOX 404 and Company policies. The role will also support technical accounting and peer disclosure research, and continuous improvement of reporting processes, tools, workpapers, and documentation. This role reports to the SEC Reporting Manager.
Responsibilities Include: Support the SEC financial reporting process, including:
- Assisting with the preparation, review and tie-out of Forms 10-Q and 10-K and Earnings Press Release, including financial statements, footnote disclosures, supporting schedules and related workpapers
- Assisting with the review and tie-out of Form 8-K filings, proxy materials, investor presentation materials, and related scripts or external reporting materials, as applicable
- Preparing detail tie-outs of SEC filings, earnings materials and other external reporting documents to supporting documentation and source systems
- Coordinating with cross-functional partners from Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal and other departments to gather, validate and document financial and disclosure information
Assist the technical accounting function, including:
- Assisting with completing the GAAP checklists and ensuring financial statements and footnote disclosures are presented in accordance with GAAP guidelines
- Supporting the quarterly review of goodwill and intangible assets for impairment
Support the equity-related accounting and reporting process, including:
- Preparing journal entries, footnote disclosures and internal reporting for share-based payment awards and analyzing compensation expense variances vs. prior periods
- Preparing the Statement of Stockholders' Equity and reconciling stockholders equity account balances
- Provide support and assist in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly reviews with both external and internal auditors, including preparing audit schedules, timely responding to auditor requests and helping ensure completeness of control evidence
- Support SOX 404 compliance and disclosure controls by helping prepare control evidence, maintain documentation, identify process gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen the financial reporting control environment
- Assist in identifying and supporting process improvements, automation opportunities, and reporting best practices to improve the quality, scalability, consistency, and efficiency of SEC reporting and technical accounting processes
- Assist in special projects and ad hoc reporting or technical accounting matters as necessary, including preparing disclosure research benchmarking of peers and other filers

About You:- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- 4+ years of accounting, financial reporting, audit or technical accounting experience, including experience in a publicly-traded company or public accounting firm with publicly-traded clients.
- Active CPA strongly preferred.
- SEC public reporting experience, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy materials, financial statement disclosures, and disclosure tie-outs, preferred.
- Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
- Workiva/Wdesk experience preferred.
- Retail, grocery or consumer products experience a plus.
- Outstanding knowledge and practical application of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, PCAOB standards, SOX 404, disclosure controls, and internal controls over financial reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document accounting conclusions and effectively engage with internal and external. audiences, including external auditors, legal advisors, regulators, and key internal decision-makers.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with high attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, completeness and documentation quality.
- Excellent working knowledge of financial statements, footnote disclosures, disclosure benchmarking, tie-outs, and audit-ready workpapers.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of financial reporting systems, processes, and controls.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities, work independently, meet tight deadlines, and operating effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven reporting environment.
