Full Job Description
Purpose: AbbVie Analytical Research & Development (ARD) is a global analytical sciences organization responsible for all CMC analytical activities related to the development of AbbVie's pharmaceutical products. Our scope includes AbbVie's diverse pipeline of innovative small molecule and therapeutic biologic medicines and spans from the selection of Discovery candidate molecules through the transition of analytical methods and testing to commercial labs to support product launch. Within ARD's Chromatography Center of Excellence is the Screening Lab, which functions as a high-throughput method screening and development group that serves a diverse set of stakeholders and impacts all pipeline programs. The Screening Lab is seeking an experienced Separations Scientist with expertise in chromatographic method development. An ideal candidate would have a proven track record of developing novel approaches for method development and solutions to difficult separations related challenges. The candidate should possess a strong understanding of the fundamental properties and theory of chromatography as it pertains to both synthetic and biotherapeutic molecules. Additional experience with chromatographic method development software, advanced CDS control, downstream purification, and automation is desirable. In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, your expertise and insight will ensure that robust and reliable methods are provided to project teams. Responsibilities: 022 Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise to deliver results within project timelines. 022 Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present work at both internal and external scientific conferences. 022 Proactively seek out new information in the literature and incorporate this into individual project(s) as well as the overall program. 022 Seize opportunities to pursue project relevant leads that are in line with the group's strategy. 022 Develop high-throughput platform screening capabilities for separation-based assays. 022 Expected to evaluate novel technology approaches and build scientific profile both internally and externally in terms of pipeline contributions and scholarly achievements. 022 Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab, and communicate effectively with numerous stakeholders. 022 Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable. 022 May mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals. Qualifications 022 Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience, Master's Degree or equivalent education and typically 8 years of experience, PhD and no experience necessary. 022 Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline. 022 Effective writer and communicator of research or other regulatory materials. 022 Possesses a strong understanding of the fundamental properties and theory of chromatography. 022 Proven, hands-on experience in the development of novel complex analytical methods. 022 Experience with in-silico techniques such as chromatographic modeling and machine learning and knowledge of using Fusionae, Drylabae, Chromswordae or GoSilicoae would be a plus.
