Sr Scientist, Antibody Discovery (onsite in Quincy, MA)
Job Description

This is an individual contributor role that provides support for bioanalytical characterization for a variety of assays critical for characterizing therapeutic antibody candidates. This role will work closely with our Antibody Characterization and Protein Analytics team at our Quincy, MA location and is responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and troubleshooting a range of workflows, including SPR and BLI affinity analysis, developability assays, flow cytometry, functional assays, and target binding characterization.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • As an individual contributor Senior Scientist, you will support members of multiple scientific teams as a Project Lead, but will not directly manage team members.
  • Guide multiple projects per day to ensure scientific excellence and execution for antibody projects involving binding affinity determination (SPR, BLI) and developability assays (i.e. aSEC, CIC, HIC, BVP-ELISA, AC-SINS, plate-based off-target assays, DLS, and nanoDSF) for a variety of antibody and biologics formats (IgG, VHH, Minibinders, etc.)
  • Assist cross-functionally with the wet lab teams, Project Management team and scientific leaders across multiple sites within the company to ensure exquisite execution of individual projects, while also providing guidance for future assay integration and improvement in the antibody discovery workflow.
  • Provide technical guidance (assay development, analysis, and data reporting) for antibody-based projects in a range of areas, including high-throughput ELISA, flow cytometry, kinetic assays (BLI and SPR), developability assays, advanced/custom characterization, and functional screening.
  • Serve as an end-to-end technical lead for a variety of in vivo antibody discovery programs and contract services, contributing to scientific planning and feasibility review during project scoping.
  • Review, critically analyze, and present data to customers for a variety of concurrent antibody discovery programs.
  • Work closely with the Project Management team to communicate timelines and deliverables to internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Spend time performing wet-lab benchwork alongside the team based on workflow and assay development needs. It is anticipated that the role would involve an 80/20 split of analysis vs wet lab time.
What You'll Bring:
  • Strong knowledge of antibody and biologics characterization is required.
  • Previous experience with Carterra SPR systems, Octet BLI, and/or developability assays (HPLC and high throughput plate-based) is required. Further direct experience is expected with ELISA, SDS-PAGE, protein quantification, and endotoxin assays.
  • Experience in high-throughput assays (1,000s of samples) is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot scientific processes, make sound scientific decisions on tight timelines, and accurately analyze and report data with utmost attention to detail.
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple workflows, prioritizing effectively.
  • Effectively communicate project updates, risks, and progress to the manager and cross-functional team members in a timely and professional manner.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, clearly articulating needs, concerns, and proposed solutions to drive efficient collaboration.
Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of antibody biologics characterization assays: extensive hands-on experience required in Carterra SPR, Octet BLI, ELISA, flow cytometry, and antibody developability characterization.
  • Advanced understanding of in vivo antibody discovery concepts.
  • Strong track record of developing, executing, and analyzing common assay formats for antibody discovery, such as high-throughput screening, epitope binning, ligand blocking analysis, affinity analysis, and cell-based functional assays.
  • Demonstrated capability to work autonomously, prioritizing responsibilities within a high-pressure setting characterized by concurrent projects and time-critical workflows.
  • Proven ability to assess, interpret, and present complex scientific data effectively and with a high level of integrity and ethics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including external customer-facing communication.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a focused, problem-solving mentality to address projects and logistics.


The base cash compensation for this Massachusetts-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.
