Salary Statement
Estimated Starting Salary Range: USD $75,650.00/Yr. - USD $126,050.00/Yr. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Description
  • Serving as a designated safety representative to manage the company's environmental, health and safety program at a project level ensuring the safety of all company employees, other working personnel, and Government property
  • Providing technical support and assistance to project teams in developing and maintaining a Project Safety Roadmap
  • Performing risk assessments and recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to Management, including ergonomic considerations
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable safety program expectations, federal and state laws and maintain accurate metrics and reporting in doing so
  • Supporting project execution primarily in the Norfolk/Hampton Roads area
  • Ensuring that all safety requirements are met, safety equipment is provided, and safety procedures are documented as part of the quality management system
  • Identifying and informing management of compliance issues, safety risks and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly and monthly audits
  • Performing risk assessments and recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to Management, including ergonomic considerations
  • Facilitating the incident investigation process
  • Maintaining required paperwork to comply with company, project and federal standards
  • Conducting training and coaching associates on observed work habits in support of this effort, as well as, training as required by the Program Manager or Facility Manager
  • Serving as POC for safety permit acquisition including Hot Work, Confined Space, etc.
  • Direct liaising with Client and Facility Safety Representatives to ensure continue compliance and correction of non-compliance observations
  • Providing timely feedback to all team members regarding specific safety corrective actions
  • Communicating and helping coordinate daily safe work processes
  • Ensuring required PPE is available and used
  • Serving as the designated shipboard competent person regarding safety

Requirements
  • Associates degree in safety or equivalent experience
  • Five or more years of experience working with safety principles/practices/procedures
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills
  • Previous experience in ship yards or shipboard works desired, specifically, the application of OSHA 29 CFR 1915
Desired Skills
  • Experience with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) (Public Law 91-596) and the resulting applicable standards, OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910 (general), 1915 (shipboard/submarine) and 1926 (shore)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically, analyzing and manipulating data
  • OSHA 29 CFR 1915 or 1926 Ten or Thirty Hour Instructor
  • Shipboard competent person designation desired
  • Experience in the application of NAVSEA Safety Standards
