Job Description

  

Teledyne FLIR is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to support the development of next-generation infrared detector technologies and focal plane arrays. This role will contribute to strategic product development initiatives, semiconductor process innovation, and the advancement of high-performance detector solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic decisions related to detector design and product development.
  • Lead and support semiconductor process development initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical resource to resolve development and production challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance detector and focal plane array technologies.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the technical execution of strategic research and development programs.
  • Contribute to projects funded internally or through development contracts with U.S. Government agencies and major defense contractors.
  • Assist with technical milestone planning, project tracking, budget monitoring, and contractual reporting requirements.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for expanded scope and follow-on funding.

Detector Development & Innovation

  • Support the development of high-performance, low-dark-current infrared detector arrays and their integration into focal plane array systems.
  • Contribute to device improvements through detector design, material growth, and semiconductor processing.
  • Assist in the development of hybridization processes used to integrate advanced detector arrays with silicon readout integrated circuits (ROICs).
  • Leverage existing technologies and expertise to drive continuous improvement and develop next-generation detector solutions.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry, research, or development experience.
  • Strong background in semiconductor physics, optoelectronic devices, or related technologies preferred.
  • Experience with semiconductor fabrication processes such as photolithography, dry etching, dielectric deposition, and metallization preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reasoning abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable solutions.

Salary Range:

$141,900.00-$189,200.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
