Full Job Description
Purpose:

You will provide substation design services to Worley and its Customers as an integral part of the Power Networks team.

Responsibilities:

Independently perform tasks that typically include:
  • Work within a multi-discipline team to develop efficient and reliable design packages for medium and high voltage substations.
  • Lead/Support Document Control functions including ProjectWise management, drawing requests, drawing set-up/preparation, submittals/transmittals, etc.
  • Translating engineering sketches and markups into properly documented drawings (including schematics, wiring, single line diagrams, and three line utilizing predefined standards.
  • Coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules, budget, quality requirements to ensure successful project completion.
  • Assist in site visits and station walkdowns, proposals, and attending project meetings where required.
  • Effective technical and practical electrical design and drafting skills ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensuring drawings are produced in accordance with applicable drafting codes and standards.
  • Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.
  • Work at times with limited direction and have the ability to assist with conceptualizing layouts using go-by information.
  • Reviewing and incorporating field construction marks to develop As-Built Drawing Packages.
  • Maintain complete project documentation with respect to engineering documents, all design packages, as-built requirements and return data information. Maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support projects such as other engineering disciplines, Drafting, Project Management etc.
  • Responsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable drawing standards and responsible for the proper document management procedures are followed.
  • Ability to complete tasks in accordance with project procedures, applicable codes and/or standards, on schedule and within budget.


What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
  • Extensive relevant design experience.
  • Has a competent understanding of regulations, electrical codes, manufacturing standards and industry standard practices.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, MicroStation and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency with the manipulation of scaled vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE.
  • Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
  • Knowledge with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Experience with ProjectWise document management software.
  • Ability to perform independently and in a team environment and provide project ownership.
  • Ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and written communication skills that permit working efficiently alongside senior substation engineers and designers in a team setting.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:
  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design / Drafting with discipline specific training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in electrical design and drafting.

Preferred:
  • Substation design and familiarity is required.
