Position Summary

The Sr Project Manager leads the delivery of high-risk, complex, or strategically significant projects and programs with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. They drive project performance, oversee risk and financial outcomes, lead key client relationships, and align project execution with broader business and operational goals. They also mentor and guide less experienced team members while supporting business growth through project excellence and strategic client engagement.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities

Project Management
  • Leads high-risk, business-critical, or strategically significant projects with full autonomy, aligning delivery with organizational goals.
  • Oversees development of complex proposals and contracts; drives pricing strategy and negotiates terms with senior clients or partners.
  • Oversees deliverable strategy across internal and external teams; delegates ownership and ensures accountability for delivery outcomes.
  • Owns client relationship strategy, navigating sensitive issues, aligning delivery with strategic objectives, and representing firm leadership.
  • Directs financial strategy across project lifecycle, proactively managing risk and forecasting long-term impacts.
  • Responsible for outcomes on the most complex projects; integrates delivery performance with business success measures.
  • Leads efforts to improve performance and ensure consistent adherence to applicable quality standards.
  • Oversees complex consultant ecosystems and strategic partnerships; ensures alignment with contractual, financial, and delivery expectations.

Program Management

  • Owns the development and negotiation of complex program contracts and fee strategies.
  • Leads program-wide client strategy, maintaining alignment across internal teams and senior client stakeholders.
  • Directs execution across high-impact programs, ensuring integrated delivery and managing escalations across projects.

  • Defines and elevates project quality expectations, influencing standards across teams and sectors.
  • Ensures consistent quality performance on strategic or high-risk projects, reinforcing standards through delegation and oversight.
  • Leads scoping and fee development across portfolios of work, accounting for long-term business and delivery implications.

  • Acts as the primary contact and strategic representative for critical programs or enterprise clients.
  • Shapes and leads client engagement strategies that extend beyond the project, aligning service with business growth.
  • Resolves complex or politically sensitive client issues, sharing insights to strengthen organizational learning.
  • Drives sector-level business development priorities by shaping positioning strategies and pursuit plans.
  • Cultivates executive-level relationships with clients and partners, unlocking new opportunities for the firm.

Leadership/Employee Engagement
  • Directs large, multidisciplinary teams and drives accountability across PMs to ensure high performance.
  • Champions growth and development of others, building a pipeline of capable PM talent across the firm.
  • Shapes sector PM development strategies by collaborating with operational leaders and advocating for scalable practices.
  • Supports sector and practice leadership by demonstrating and advocating for project management quality and standards across project teams.
  • Leads adoption of sustainability-aligned delivery approaches and influences broader organizational goals through project leadership.

Required Education, Experience, Licenses & Technical Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, science, technology, or business required. Relevant experience within the AEC or Professional Services industry may be considered in lieu of requisite education.
  • 14 years of relevant experience required, including a minimum of 13 years of project management experience. Minimum 16 years of experience required without degree.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management standards and execution required.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of building design and construction principles required.
  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to influence and motivate others to achieve goals.
  • Proven track record of effective collaboration, communication and organization skills.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described in this job description.

Physical & Other Requirements
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Occasional travel may be required (10-15%).
