Full Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Construction Project Manager to support commercial construction projects for retail, healthcare, industrial, government, and institutional clients. This position is based in Greensboro, NC and will require approximately 30-40% travel to project sites throughout the East Coast, with occasional travel to Midwest locations. The Construction Project Manager will oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, vendors, and client relationships from preconstruction through project closeout.
Responsibilities of the Construction Project Manager:
  • Manage 3-7 commercial construction projects simultaneously from concept through completion.
  • Coordinate project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, vendors, and client communications.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and ensure project documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Review project scope, schedules, drawings, specifications, and budgets to ensure successful project execution.
  • Collaborate with design, estimating, scheduling, and field operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and identify value engineering opportunities to improve project outcomes and reduce costs.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and vendor relationships.
  • Track project costs, profitability, and schedule performance while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Review and process change orders, pay applications, shop drawings, submittals, and project approvals.
  • Coordinate agency permits, inspections, and regulatory approvals as required.
  • Perform regular site visits and attend client, subcontractor, and project team meetings.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project execution.
  • Support project closeout activities and ensure all deliverables are completed successfully.
Qualifications of the Construction Project Manager:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
  • Experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and coordinating diverse project teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience working with general contractors, architecture firms, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Proficiency with project management and construction software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong financial management, cost tracking, and budgeting experience.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 30-40% to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMP, CAPM, CCM, or industry-related certifications.
  • Design-Build project experience.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, retail, pharmaceutical, municipal, federal, NAVFAC, or USACE projects.
  • Background with large commercial general contractors.
Compensation for the Construction Project Manager:
  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000+ (flexible based on experience and project background)
  • Annual discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance
