OverviewThe Albuquerque Plant is a high performing plant with 400 employees that serves both the Cereal and Snack businesses. The Cereal Department has three processing systems (twinscrew, twinscrew with coating, hybrid twinscrew/sprout) with each feeding multiple packaging lines. The Bars Department has two systems (Chewy and Crunchy) with each feeding multiple packaging lines. The plant operates with a 4-crew structure where the technician team members operate, maintain and clean their systems.
In this role, the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for executing capital projects at their plant which includes scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, check-out, and start-up. This role will provide technical solutions across the site, working with a cross functional team..

Key Accountabilities- Lead Engineer on site level capital projects - overall project management, budget, schedule management, construction management, start-up, conceptual phases, project close-out, scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, check- out
- Lead system design standards development for divisional unit operations. Includes improvements to existing standards using appropriate technical evaluation and involvement
- Maintain engineering interface with business unit team - maintain close working relationship with Research & Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations leadership, and Financial operations
- Provide innovative technical solutions required to meet business objectives with emphasis on productivity and cost savings
- Build and lead cross-functional project teams, align stakeholders on scope, schedule, and deliverables, and communicate effectively with business partners and key customers.
- Manage vendors, contractors, and engineering firms in support of project execution.
- Provide support to annual capital planning process, which may include development and management of the capital program for an operating department
- Coach, mentor, and develop less experienced engineers and internal resources.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other degree with applicable project management experience or extensive relevant work experience
- 3+ years prior capital management experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of capital planning, capital policy, capital tools, and capital funding processes.
- Ability to develop screening-level estimates, preliminary scope, project budgets, and project funding documentation.
- Demonstrated skills in executing several large concurrent assignments with emphasis on project management, productivity, and packing development
- Demonstrated technical leadership, adaptability, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision making, troubleshooting, communications, team management, and human relations skills
- Strong ability to involve technicians in the project process
- Experience working with plant technicians, leadership staff, outside vendors and managing contractors and outside firms
Preferred Qualifications- 2+ years in relevant food manufacturing with engineering experience
- 6+ years prior capital project management experience
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor other Project Engineers or other developing technical resources.
- Construction Management experience
- Understanding of Food Manufacturing regulatory Requirements (Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety, etc.)
- Experience with continuous improvement, LEAN, Six Sigma, TPM, or related processes
SALARY RANGEThe salary range for this position is:
$95,300 - $143,200 Annual
