Job Description

Senior Project Designer

Position Purpose

Primarily responsible for providing specialized technical support to Project Manager by preparing customary layouts, detailed drawings, and diagrams through specific software to meet the needs of the project. Requires extensive experience in specific markets.

Essential Functions

Leads Technical Tasks on Projects
  • Review, analyze and reduce raw data from field operations; process and analyze data.
  • Prepare designs, drawing, reports and calculations for projects within a specific market along with plan production.
  • Mentors and may lead less experienced designers and technicians on technical design tasks.

Develop Project Deliverables
  • Develops solutions to modify specific project tasks to meet the scope of the project.
  • Prepares deliverables as directed by Project Manager, in accordance with firm and client-specific project standards.
Collaborates with Project Team Members
  • Educate technicians in design software specific to market.
  • Assist other project teams or departments with technical, field, or other duties as needed or requested.

Task, quality, schedule, and budget adherence
  • Provide assistance in any area necessary to get the work completed according to the project schedule.
  • Maintain current knowledge of equipment, techniques, procedures, and regulations.
  • Participate in professional development and training.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate, handle, maneuver and/or manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; use manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, and telephone; talk and hear; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associates degree from an accredited four-year college or from a vocational-technical college in a related field plus 16 years related work experience in the area of work specialization; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 16 years of specialized CAD experience in market specific software systems; greater depth of knowledge and experience with agencies specific to market.
  • Ability to operate other computer software and equipment, and basic understanding of computer hardware and software, accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is performing responsibilities in both a typical office environment and outdoor environment and is exposed to weather conditions. Associate could be required to ride in a boat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Associate does tour project sites periodically, and thus, is exposed to the noise, dust, smells, and other environmental factors present at a project site. Nights away from home could be required.
Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, requiring 40+ hours per week. Nights and weekend commitments to the organization, its associates and clients may be necessary.
