How You'll Make an Impact

Lubrizol's Senior Production Engineer is a technical resource for Operations personnel, in unit effectiveness, optimization and problem solving to enable safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products. This role is to provide a technical resource to assist work teams with daily operations and process performance so as to run a low cost, on specification, reliable, optimized operation, thereby maximizing value to the business in a safe environmentally friendly manner. In this role you will:
  • Understand all applicable processes, equipment and control technologies.
  • Work with technical experts and plant personnel to optimize operations to meet business and plant goals all of its KPIs (Health, Environmental, Safety & Security, Production, Cost, Quality, Energy, Reliability).
  • Implements best practices to optimize operations. Ensures the most effective technology is understood and utilized.
  • Participates in advanced troubleshooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Ensures findings are documented in Plant operating discipline for future usage.
  • Understands and applies skills and knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC) technology, to maximize plant asset utilization and produce low cost, quality products.
  • Works with technical experts and technicians to initiate changes to plant operating procedures to ensure they are valid and up to date.
  • Collaborates with other engineers on site and within the global business to leverage knowledge on plant operations.
  • Communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel, Technology or Expertise centers.
  • Provide high level leadership and direction in the day-to-day decision making for the operating area of responsibility.
  • Implement process improvements supporting reduction of variation, capacity, and yield improvement.
  • Monitor and improve raw material variability.
  • Conducts and participates in root cause analysis, FMEA, etc. as required.
  • Be the plant Asset Utilization Focal Point. Drive rate changes and optimize profiles to meet production goals while increasing Overall Equipment Effectiveness(OEE). Maintain the asset utilization database by entering production data into it to calculate OEE.
  • Provides technical support for projects
  • Responds to plant upsets as needed
  • Adheres strongly to the management of change process to ensure that reviews are completed thoroughly, risks are adequately assessed, and personnel are properly trained prior to implementing changes in the production facility.


Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
  • BS in Engineering. Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in operations in a chemical facility.
  • Experience with Technology and Process Safety in a chemical facility.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement: Six Sigma and LEAN. Certifications are preferred.
  • Understanding of the business fundamentals to improve Unit financial performance
