Location: Odessa, TX or Houston, TX

General Information/Job Summary

Senior Process Engineer supports the internal process engineering team for EPC projects from FEED to commissioning and post start up activities. Projects are valued as small as $50,000 engineering-only work up to $200mm large scale EPC projects. The Senior Process Engineer will also assist with proposal and estimating activities for EPC project opportunities/bids. Determines methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. Applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis within project scope, and acts as process engineering lead for select projects.

Responsibilities/Competencies

  • Conceptual development of project scope and estimating for new project proposals
  • Selects and implements correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new projects and designs and/or improvements for existing designs.
  • Ability to interface with other engineering department disciplines/leads to collaborate on projects and identify and develop corrective action on projects issues when they arise.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with corporate and engineering-specific policies, procedures, and work processes within the process engineering group workflow.
  • Acts as a lead process design engineer on major projects, with a high-level competency of performing tasks.
  • Ability to lead internal and client-related meetings for detailed walkthroughs and explanation of design documents (P&IDs, equipment sizing, Cause & Effect, Plot Plan, PHA, etc.)
  • Ability to review plant 3D models developed by other disciplines to ensure proper configuration, placements of equipment, routing of piping, etc. meets the intent of the process design.
  • Tracking of job specific project budgets to ensure cost control is maintained on projects (labor hours, engineered equipment costs, etc.)
  • Specific experience in the detailed design, installation, and integration of natural gas processing and transmission facility technologies and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering preferred. Other disciplines may be considered provided all requirements and qualifications are met.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in midstream oil and gas design and/or operations
  • Applicants must be a licensed Professional Engineer or be actively working toward licensure.
  • Experience in working with or within a multi-layered EPC organization.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing multiple simultaneous projects, acting as a lead process engineer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and relationship building skills with employees and clients.
  • Professional and ethical leaders willing to mentor and train young engineers.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Travel is occasionally required.
