Responsibilities

  • Coordinate market research to identify new opportunities
  • Communicate process updates to cross-functional teams and suppliers
  • Oversee the design and development of innovative hang tags and structural designs
  • Identify and review packaging design proposals to improve costs and productivity
  • Mediate comments between Packaging and cross-functional teams
  • Work with Product Approval and Sourcing teams to resolve vendor approval issues
  • Supervise the approval of vendor packaging submits for quality
  • Implement solutions to maintain packaging sample schedule deadlines
  • Create on-brand packaging solutions to support brand integrity
  • Collaborate on packaging requests with Design and licensing partners
  • Execute enhancements to structural design based on market demands
  • Ensure accurate packaging specifications through audits and reviews
  • Meet deadlines according to the seasonal design calendar

Description

Overview:

The Sr. Package Designer will work cross functionally with Design, Sales, Marketing and Sourcing teams to create and develop innovative packaging solutions for various apparel items.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Coordinate and conduct market research to identify and present new opportunities to leadership for approval and subsequent implementation
  • Own communication regarding any process updates to appropriate cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across departments and suppliers
  • Oversee the design and development of cost effective, innovative, and consumer friendly hang tags and structural designs
  • Identify packaging design, manufacturing, and materials needed to improve costs and productivity and review proposals with management
  • Mediate submit (sample & production) comments between the Packaging team and appropriate cross-functional teams, ensuring comments are actioned accurately
  • Work with Product Approval and Sourcing teams to resolve issues with vendor approvals, production changes, non-conforming packaging, and quality control processes
  • Supervise the approval of digital and physical submits from vendors inclusive of color, substrate quality, and finishes
  • Implement solutions for any issues with the packaging sample schedule to ensure deadlines are maintained
  • Create on-brand solutions for each project to help maintain brand integrity while supporting execution efficiencies where applicable across the total category
  • Work cross-functionally with Design and licensing partners to prepare and seek approval on all packaging requests
  • Execute needed improvements or enhancements to structural design to comply with customer and market expectations and demands
  • Ensure consistent and accurate packaging specifications through packaging audits/reviews from in-house and outside vendors
  • Meet all deadlines in adherence to the seasonal design calendar
  • Special projects as assigned


Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities/Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts or related field
  • 8+ years of work experience in packaging design (children's wear knowledge a plus)
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop as well as Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills with excellent proof-reading skills with attention to detail
  • Must be a strategic thinker, persuasive and collaborative

Salary Description
