About the Role

This leadership role within our MEP team will drive the design and management of mechanical engineering projects, ensuring the successful execution of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across a variety of sectors. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide technical oversight, mentorship, and strategic guidance, working closely with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for municipal, K-12, university, and industrial buildings.
  • Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system analysis to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
  • Select and specify mechanical equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handling units, and pumps.
  • Oversee and guide the development of mechanical construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Ensure all designs comply with ASHRAE standards, building codes, energy codes, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of professional growth.
  • Collaborate directly with clients, architects, and project managers to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including proposal writing and client presentations.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, engineering specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing conditions and support construction administration.


Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, HVAC design, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain one within one year.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modeling tools (such as Trace 700, HAP, or EnergyPlus).
  • Proven experience leading projects, managing budgets, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interface with diverse teams and clients.
  • Deep understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing design, energy efficiency, and sustainable design practices.
