Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, HV Battery as part of the product engineering organization in the plant. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor, determination, & leads by example. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to lead the team through technical & organizational challenges and to deliver impactful results in an ambiguous environment. You will: • Solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques • Data driven proactive problem solving, root cause analysis & issue avoidance due to process deviations or critical part quality issues • Develop (from pilot to implementation) complex processes with particular focus on laser welding & associated quality verification and failure detection methods into production readiness while meeting associated ISO standards • Establish technical depth to triage and troubleshoot all HV Battery product & associated test spec. issues • Provide design for manufacturability (DFM), design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) & serviceability feedback in future product development processes • Responsible for setting up process flow & implementation of assembly drawings covering product specifications relevant to manufacturing • Responsible for creating a one-team culture to drive product design issues to closure in future/current products with deep collaboration with cross-functional teams • Provide guidance on build process development and improvement opportunities for high-volume production lines • Lead product change management to address known product compatibility issues for high volume production or known product design issues in production in close collaboration with cross-functional teams Requirements: • BS in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or Automotive Engineering disciplines with 8+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle systems or attributes • Generally, requires 5+ years of related experience • Experience in product problem solving using industry standard techniques • Excellent in data analysis using statistics Minitab or JMP, Python, MATLAB • Previously participated in prototype builds or launch events • Technical depth in HV Battery Systems (Cylindrical Cells, Battery Modules, Battery Enclosure, & Battery Pack) & associated troubleshooting • Experience in product development or improvement of HV Battery sub-systems • Experience in using DFMEA, DVP&R, PFMEA, Control Plan, DFM, & RCA with cross-functional teams • Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required using Atlassian products • Requires proficiency in Catia or 3DX, Stack up analysis (2D & 3D), SQL, & Vector tools • Travel is required between the factory in Casa Grande, AZ and Engineering HQ in Newark, CA on as needed basis Preferred: • Master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or Automotive disciplines with automotive experience in design & release of vehicle systems or attributes • Prior experience with Wire bonding, Laser welding & associated in process quality verification methodologies, and highly scalable • Experience with CAD IN 3DEXPERIENCE • Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification • Experience with Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) or certification in engineering fundamentals • Collegiate FSAE/BAJA/Similar experience is preferred Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.
