What you will do

Coordinate the activities necessary for the completion of all production plans. Supervise, train, coordinate, and distribute tasks among all employees for the operation. Assure proper maintenance of facilities manufacturing equipment, in a compliance environment of a 24 hours / 7 days operation. Support the development of special projects and initiatives established by the company's business plan. Review (when required) and approve the manufacturing and packaging records. Support employee development and coaching and assure proper weekly employee communication and recognition.

Area Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates daily activities of the department such as:
    a. Assigns instructions to the operators and mechanics-operators during their shifts, for the executing of the production plan.
    b. Coordinates equipment maintenance and assures the supply of materials, machinery and other necessary equipment to ensure the efficiency of the operation.
  • Conducts daily meetings during his/her shift, to discuss with employees the relevant aspects of the business and the department.
  • Actively participates in tactical meetings to develop an executable production plan, control operational costs and maximize efficiencies.
  • Coordinates the activities necessary to implement the production plan with different process supervisors, staff and other departments.
  • Ensures the processes under his/her responsibility comply with the Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety and Environmental requirements, established by the company and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures the necessary preventive or corrective measures are taken, to prevent/solve operational or quality problems, through the generation of work orders.
  • Promotes and monitors the "Housekeeping Program" of his/her area and surrounding areas at all times.
  • Support Process Excellence initiatives/projects in order to reach business CIPs goals.
  • Ensures staff in charge carries through all the transactions and required documentation on time and accurately.
  • Participated in the controls budget preparation for the manufacturing / packaging and/or warehouse areas, to better utilize the available resources.
  • Facilitates and documents diligently, the clarification and resolution of incidents/deviations, during the manufacturing process.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of action plans, resulting from internal and external audits.
  • Ensures the data collection and preparation of reports, including technical assessments and recommendations relating to the operation such as, but not limited to: performance, waste, PTP, PV, PF, Downtime/OEE, efficiencies, attendance, quality and security.
  • Oversees operations of the manufacturing / packaging to achieve production objectives.
  • Identifies and implements projects to improve safety, quality and operating costs of his/her area of responsibility.
  • Assists the manager in developing and managing the budget of the department.
  • Evaluates and coordinates process and validation equipment of his/her work area, to facilitate the implementation of such, according to the established requirements.
  • Coordinates and supervises subcontracted/technical work in the areas, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Selects, hires, evaluates, supervises, takes disciplinary action, develops, rewards and coordinates vacation schedule of employees that are under his/her responsibility.
  • Trains or coordinates the required training, to ensure the efficient operation of his/her area of responsibility.
  • Handles emergency medical situations and follows the procedures of the Company, in the event the Nurse is not available.
  • Performs management functions during the absence of area manager, in negotiations inside and outside the company, as required.
  • Ensures the implementation of required preventive and corrective/emergency maintenance, for the proper operation of equipment (including the generation of work orders and their completion).
  • Supports the Operators in the execution of the assigned tasks and ensures compliance with the "Operator Asset Care" principles.
  • Executes on a yearly basis, efficiency assessments using FMECA and Reliability Engineering techniques.
  • Review (when required) and approve the manufacturing and packaging master records.
  • Packaging Supervisor executes the line/area confirmation after the cleaning inspection of the line/area (Major and Minor Cleaning) and prior to the line/area clearance by QA.
  • Ensures compliance with the ISO14001 Standard.
  • Promotes and encourages employees to achieve environmental objectives and targets.
  • Dispose adequately the papers or any other recyclable material generated during their tasks execution to avoid an increasing of non-hazardous waste.
  • Promotes and encourage employees to have commitment and alignment to the organization's environmental policy.
  • Participates in cross-training initiatives as part of the flexible workforce / development strategy, and provides support when needed, in other departments or roles within the operations area.


Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree, preferable in Engineering, Administration or Natural Sciences.
  • Experience: More than four (4) years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, preferable.
  • Three (3+) or more years of experience working as a Supervisor or Leader role.
  • Strong knowledge in quality and compliance systems in the regulated pharmaceutical industry
  • Have knowledge of two (2+) or more Operation Areas.
  • Basic knowledge on validation and qualification principles
  • Experience leading process improvement projects; including but not limited to ownership of change controls, Standard Operating Procedures, and protocols
  • Physical Demands:
    - Sedentary work that requires minimum effort. It also requires skills in communication, eye-hand coordination, ability to move and manual skills.
    - Tolerance to the use of personal protective equipment for respiratory airways. In occasions, climbing, kneeling and stooping.
    - Occasionally requires movements of objects such as: lifting, pushing, loading and hauling. Requires near visual acuity and hearing, medium and distant.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bilingual (English/Spanish-oral and written).
  • Knowledgeable in cGMPs and pharmaceutical industry applicable regulations. Computer literate.
  • Leadership: Incumbent should demonstrate solid competencies on the current values and behaviors to effectively contribute to the transformation of the scope of work.

Other Requirements:
  • Able to travel in and outside of Puerto Rico. Able to work extra hours and to respond to emergency calls that require returning to the company, and to work alternate shifts.
  • Available to work in other areas, according to business strategies

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:

$90,950.00 - $128,400.00
