Full Job Description
Who We Are Looking For

We're looking for a seasoned manufacturing and welding engineer who can bridge the gap between design intent and shop floor reality. You bring deep hands-on experience with welded assemblies and fabrication processes, coupled with the technical knowledge to optimize how things are made. You're equally comfortable interpreting complex engineering drawings, solving production issues, and collaborating with design teams to improve manufacturability.

This role serves as a welding domain expert for Re:Build Optimation and the broader Re:Build Manufacturing network-helping project teams navigate code requirements, select welding processes, design tooling, and build scalable production methods. You thrive on variety: qualifying weld procedures, leading design-for-manufacturability reviews, and setting up automated welding work cells.

What You Get To Do

  • Design and improve manufacturing processes, developing efficient methods that reduce cost, waste, and cycle time using lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Manufacturing for Design (MFD) initiatives to improve producibility and part quality
  • Develop, optimize, and qualify weld processes across multiple methods including electron beam, laser beam, GTAW, orbital tube, GMAW, and SMAW
  • Serve as welding domain expert, providing guidance on code requirements, welding techniques, and destructive/non-destructive testing
  • Design weld tooling and fixtures to reduce distortion and improve consistency in welded assemblies
  • Select and specify manufacturing equipment, tooling, and fixtures-including automation, robotics, and CNC systems
  • Support new product introduction by partnering with design teams to ensure efficient manufacturing and scalability
  • Collaborate with quality and testing partners to define requirements and processes for welded assemblies
  • Solve production issues using root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Evaluate make vs. buy opportunities and manage key vendor relationships for welding and testing processes
  • Develop work instructions, process documentation, and standards that support safe and consistent execution

What You Bring To The Team

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience with design, fabrication, manufacturing, and/or testing of welded assemblies
  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications
  • Experience setting up automated/robotic welding work cells and modifying designs for automated welding compatibility
  • Demonstrated experience applying DFM/MFD principles and optimizing manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures
  • Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing and root-cause problem-solving methods
  • Fundamental understanding of SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, laser, and electron beam welding processes
  • Hands-on experience with carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, titanium, and/or high-nickel alloys
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multi-functional teams
  • Experience in custom equipment fabrication, machine building, or mid-to-high-volume/high-mix environments
  • Strong commitment to safety, including alignment to OSHA and site-specific protocols

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), PMP, AWS CWEng, or CWI certification; NDT Level 1 or 2
  • Ability to develop complete weld procedures independently
  • Fluent knowledge of ASME BPVC (Section VIII, Divisions 1 & 2) and experience with design tools like DesignCalcs
  • Experience with ASME Authorized Inspection Authorities (AIAs)
  • Experience supporting mid-to-high-volume production of large structural weldments
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers, apprentices, or technicians

The base salary range for this position is $94,000 - $141,000 per year. This range represents the Company's good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to proven experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to Company plans. The Company offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and other benefits.
The BIG payoff

We are a company who is going to make a difference in the industries and the communities in which we choose to operate. Every employee of Re:Build will share ownership in the company and will share in the financial rewards of the success we achieve together, at all levels of the company!
