The position is offered in the following locations: Herndon, VA or Atlanta, GA.

The Senior Engineering Manager, Tank Monitoring IoT Platform, is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the software solutions that power our Tank Monitoring platform. This includes cloud-based SaaS applications, mobile applications, platform services, and firmware deliverables.

This role combines strong technical leadership, people leadership, and disciplined execution. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building and delivering scalable cloud-native software platforms, leading high-performing engineering teams, and making architectural decisions that support long-term business growth. They will also champion a quality-first engineering culture, ensuring high standards for reliability, security, test automation, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction

The Senior Engineering Manager will partner closely with Product Management, Sales, Operations, and other business leaders to deliver innovative, secure, and highly reliable solutions that create value for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Engineering Manager will:
  • Own end-to-end software delivery for the Tank IoT Platform, including SaaS applications, mobile applications, cloud services, and firmware deliverables.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and drive execution against development plans, release schedules, and deployment timelines to deliver predictable outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership for architecture reviews, solution design, technology selection, and key engineering decisions.
  • Guide the evolution of cloud-native, distributed, and event-driven systems that are scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable.
  • Build strong partnerships with Product Management, Sales, Operations, and senior leadership to align priorities and execute successfully.
  • Champion engineering best practices, including Agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, testing automation, and operational excellence.
  • Maintain exceptionally high standards for software quality, reliability, security, and engineering accountability, continuously raising the bar through data-driven improvement and disciplined execution.


Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field. Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in software engineering and 3 years' experience in people management.
  • Proven track record designing and delivering large-scale SaaS platforms leveraging modern data architectures and analytics capabilities. Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services; Azure certifications preferred.
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, DevOps practices, and modern software design patterns. Experience designing and operating event-driven architectures, real-time streaming platforms, and large-scale data processing systems.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing software using object-oriented languages such as C# and .NET, with full-stack development experience preferred.
  • Understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL databases, with the ability to select and architect appropriate storage solutions. Experience with SQL Server, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Blob Storage preferred.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering highly available, fault-tolerant systems, including multi-region architectures, disaster recovery strategies, and uptime SLAs of 99.9% or greater.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices, including secure software development, secure-by-design principles, DevSecOps, and vulnerability management.
  • Maintains high standards for quality assurance and team accountability, takes proactive action to drive continuous improvement, and consistently raises the bar to build and sustain a high-performing team.
  • Understanding of Agile principles and demonstrated success leading Agile software delivery across multiple teams and initiatives.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent, building high-performance teams that integrate effectively within the broader organization.
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to drive alignment and execution across cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Preferred: Expertise in applied machine learning and ML-Ops, including successful deployment of production-grade ML solutions at scale.
