Sr. Manager, Facilities & Workplace Services

Description

This position is ideal for experienced facilities management professionals to join the Facilities & Workplace Services team as a Senior Manager, Facilities and Workplace Services, leading the operational excellence for the Morrisville, NC campus. The role is pivotal in shaping a workplace environment that fosters employee engagement, well-being, and a positive experience, while championing environmental sustainability. By partnering with cross-functional teams, you will drive initiatives that enhance the physical workspace, support workforce needs, and cultivate a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.

Role expectations
  • Own day-to-day facilities operations, ensuring workplace services such as custodial, life safety, engineering, food service, and general maintenance are delivered effectively and consistently.
  • Lead staff in providing responsive, high-quality service to employees, prioritizing their concerns and workplace experience.
  • Champion and integrate environmental sustainability practices into facility operations, including energy management, waste reduction, water conservation, sustainable procurement, and performance tracking against sustainability metrics.
  • Own service contracts cost-effectively, ensuring services meet company standards.
  • Own vendor governance, including through RFPs, SOWs, service agreements, contract renewals, vendor onboarding, scorecards, business reviews, KPIs, audits, controls, and cost management.
  • Supervise maintenance programs to keep facilities safe, welcoming, productive, and well-maintained, with a focus on building systems reliability, preventive maintenance of critical infrastructure and performance.
  • Own financial planning and reporting, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, operating plans, KPI dashboards, service performance reviews, sustainability metrics, cost savings, and executive updates.
  • Analyze data to assess objectives, productivity, cost savings, service performance, and improvement opportunities.
  • Review work order metrics to identify service gaps and recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Direct hiring, training, and development of facility staff, fostering a culture of engagement, inclusion, and professional growth.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and leadership to align facilities and workplace services with business needs.
  • Own site-level capital projects, renovations, space planning, workplace improvements, and infrastructure upgrades from planning through execution, including scope development, budget tracking, schedule management, vendor coordination, and stakeholder communication.
  • Partner with EHS to ensure site-level safety. Ensure facility compliance readiness, including permitting, inspections, life safety systems, emergency preparedness, incident response support, business continuity support, environmental documentation, and coordination with EHS and local authorities.
  • Lead broader facility risk assessments and mitigation planning across operations, infrastructure, compliance, emergency readiness, vendor performance, and service continuity.
  • Oversee employee moves, restacks, onboarding and offboarding coordination, seating assignments, access and badging coordination, conference room readiness, and workplace service requests to ensure smooth employee transitions.
  • Oversee workplace experience programs and employee-facing services, including café and catering support, amenities, events, reception coordination, visitor experience, furniture standards, employee feedback, common area improvements, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Partner with key stakeholders on site strategy, occupancy planning, workplace standards, and long-range planning to support site operations.
  • Own change management and communication plans for workplace initiatives, employee moves, service changes, construction impacts, and operational disruptions.
  • Establish and maintain facilities and workplace service standards, SLAs, governance routines, escalation processes, and performance review cadence to ensure consistent service delivery and accountability.
  • Develop multi-year capital plans and lifecycle asset replacement strategies for building systems, workplace infrastructure, furniture, equipment, and critical site assets, with a focus on resiliency and business continuity.
  • Drive innovation through best practices, operational efficiency, and adoption of industry trends that support a dynamic workplace.


What we're looking for
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) preferred, with a minimum of 10 years in facilities management.
  • Experience: 10+ years of facilities management experience, including at least 3 years at the facilities manager level; proven ability to lead change and manage complex environments.
  • Skills: Expertise in space planning, construction, engineering, property operations, and building management; strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical proficiency.
  • Sustainability: Demonstrated experience implementing environmental sustainability initiatives in facilities management.
  • Communication and teamwork: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders, lead diverse teams, and collaborate effectively across functions.

Complementary Skills
  • Experience with critical system environments and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Professional certifications preferred (e.g., IFMA, CFM, LEED, WELL).
  • Proficiency with CMMS/IWMS platforms, access control systems, occupancy analytics, SAP, Ariba, Aravo, and related contract management tools.

Pay Transparency

If provided, base salary or wage rate ranges are the range in which Align reasonably expects to set a candidate's pay for the posted position. Actual placement depends on the individual skills and experience level of a candidate plus the total compensation and equity across team members. For other locations outside of the primary location, the base salary range will be adjusted geographically.

For Field Sales roles, the salary listed is the base pay only and does not include the applicable incentive compensation plan. A cost of living adjustment may be added to base pay for higher cost areas in the U.S.

Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.

  • 401k plan (with a discretionary Company match of 50% up to 6% of eligible earnings up to a maximum match of 3%.). Employer match vests after two years - 25% year one and 100% at year two. Align offers traditional, Roth, and after-tax options.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program (Employees must work 20 hours or more and be employed on purchase date to be eligible).
  • Paid vacation of up to 17 days during the first full year of employment (currently accrued at the rate of 5.24 hours each pay-period), which carries over to a maximum cap of 30 days. Annual paid vacation time accrual increases based on tenure. Both exempt and non-exempt employees who work 32 hours or more per week receive prorated vacation accrual based on their regularly scheduled work hours and tenure.
  • Sick time is accrued throughout the year at the rate of one hour for every thirty worked. Employees can carry over unused sick leave each year, up to a maximum balance of 80 hours.
  • 11 Company-designated paid holidays throughout the year.
  • If employed for at least 12 consecutive months, Align will grant up to 6 weeks of paid Parental Leave. If employed for less than 12 consecutive months, Align will grant up to 4 weeks of paid Parental Leave. All parental leave must be completed within one year of the birth or placement of the child. Parental leave is in addition to any state and/or local parental leave benefits. Three days of paid bereavement leave. In some cases, due to travel the amount of paid leave may be extended to 5 paid days off. To the extent applicable state or local law offers more generous benefits, Align complies with any such law.
  • Non-exempt employees will receive full pay for up to 10 days of jury duty. Exempt employees will receive their full salary during any week they serve and perform any work. Other insurance such as legal, critical illness, voluntary accident, long-term care, auto, home and pet insurance are available for purchase.
