About the Role
We are hiring an Applied Science Manager to lead a team of applied scientists advancing CSA's science agenda, "Provable Trust in the Agentic Era." This agenda rests on two pillars: decisioning science, which builds ML and agentic systems that make and act on compliance decisions at scale with calibrated confidence, and verification science, which produces proof of correctness for the controls and systems that compliance depends on.
Key job responsibilities
What you will do:
-Lead, grow, and develop a team of applied scientists, setting technical direction and raising the bar on scientific rigor across the org.
-Own the science roadmap for one or more areas of the CSA agenda, spanning decision science for screening, assurance, and global product and trade compliance.
-Partner with engineering, product, and compliance leaders to move science from prototype into production systems that operate under real audit and regulatory scrutiny.
-Translate ambiguous compliance and assurance problems into well-posed scientific problems, then into shipped capabilities with measurable outcomes.
-Represent CSA science to senior AWS leadership, to auditors and regulators where appropriate, and in the broader research community.
-Recruit and mentor scientists, and build the operating model that lets a distributed science team do its best work.
