Position DescriptionThe Sr. Manager, Accounting Operations plays a critical leadership role in overseeing Cary Oil's Accounts Payable and Billing functions.
This leader will build and develop high-performing Billing and Accounts Payable teams, driving accuracy, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across day-to-day accounting operations. With a strong foundation in operational accounting and process management, the Sr. Manager, Accounting Operations will partner with leaders across the organization to strengthen systems, streamline workflows, and deliver the reporting and insights needed to support Cary Oil's growth. Some responsibilities may include:
Leadership & Team Development | Building and developing high-performing billing and accounts payable teams
- Lead the Accounts Payable and Billing functions, including managers and team members across both departments.
- Provide coaching, development, and performance leadership to build engaged, high-performing teams.
- Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across accounting operations.
- Support hiring, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
Billing & Accounts Payable Operations | Ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant operations
- Partner with Billing and Accounts Payable leaders to drive operational excellence across invoicing, reconciliations, vendor payments, adjustments, and process controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment processing and vendor administration.
- Partner with internal teams and customers to resolve complex billing and payment issues.
- Monitor operational performance through key metrics, reporting, and process reviews.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and established accounting procedures.
Process Improvement & Systems | Driving efficiency through technology and workflow optimization
- Identify automation opportunities and streamline workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Lead operational process improvement initiatives across billing and accounts payable.
- Partner on system implementations, upgrades, and optimization efforts.
- Develop scalable processes, controls, and workflows that support organizational growth and operational excellence.
Operational Reporting & Business Support| Delivering visibility and insights to guide business decisions
- Develop and maintain operational reporting that provides visibility into billing, payables, cash flow, and team performance.
- Partner with leaders across the organization to improve financial and operational processes.
- Support audit activities and internal control initiatives.
- Provide operational insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
RequirementsEducation- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
- CPA or advanced degree a preferred
Experience- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting or operational finance experience, including leadership of billing, accounts payable, or related accounting operations teams.
- Demonstrated success leading managers and developing high-performing teams across multiple functional areas.
- Experience driving process improvement and system implementations in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Industry experience in fuel, energy, or logistics is a plus.

- Proven ability to manage competing priorities across multiple functions while maintaining accuracy and control.
- Skilled in identifying and implementing process and system improvements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate operational data into clear, actionable reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems, with advanced Excel skills; experience leveraging reporting, analytics, automation, or AI enabled tools.
- Effective communicator and collaborator, comfortable partnering with cross-functional leaders and customers.
- Hands-on leader with sound judgment and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
