Full Job Description
About the Role
As a Senior Integrations Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the integrations and custom applications that connect OpenAI's supply chain ecosystem. You will combine integration platforms, Python development, and APIs to deliver reliable data flows across enterprise systems, internal applications, and external partners.
You will partner closely with Hardware Operations, Application Engineers, Product Managers, IT, and business teams to improve data integrity, automate operational workflows, and support the transition from legacy systems to modern cloud platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role with ownership across architecture, implementation, deployment, and ongoing production support.
In this role, you will
Define integration architecture and reusable design patterns across the supply chain technology landscape, balancing reliability, security, maintainability, and delivery speed.
Build and support integrations connecting ERP and SCM systems, internal applications, e-commerce platforms, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), contract manufacturers (CMs), retailers, and distributors.
Develop workflows, APIs, event-driven services, and batch and file interfaces, choosing the appropriate combination of platform capabilities and custom code.
Build production Python applications, integration services, reusable connectors, and operational tools with automated tests and maintainable interfaces.
Implement API and EDI partner integrations, including data mappings, partner onboarding, end-to-end testing, and transaction reconciliation.
Develop Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, tools, and plugins that connect AI-enabled applications to supply chain systems, with appropriate authorization, validation, audit trails, and transaction approvals.
Own production reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and recovery. Diagnose and resolve data synchronization errors, API failures, and performance bottlenecks.
Embed access controls, segregation of duties, and auditability into integration design to support SOX compliance and internal control requirements.
You might thrive in this role if you
Bring 10+ years of experience in integration development, architecture, and design, with a track record of delivering and operating production systems.
Have hands-on proficiency with at least two integration platforms, such as Workato, MuleSoft, or Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
Use Python as a primary development language and have built production applications or integration services with automated testing and sound engineering best practices.
Have worked in high-volume environments such as customer-facing e-commerce and understand the supply chain processes behind order management, inventory, fulfillment, and returns.
Understand integration patterns, REST and SOAP services, asynchronous messaging, EDI, and data formats such as JSON, XML, and CSV.
Have directly built or maintained third-party API integrations and understand OAuth, webhooks, rate limits, pagination, retries, idempotency, and failure recovery.
Are comfortable working with AWS or Azure and supporting technologies such as Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
Have experience with microservices and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
Take ownership of systems throughout their production lifecycle, participate in on-call support, and prioritize reliability and operational readiness.
Communicate technical issues and business impact clearly to both engineering teams and nontechnical stakeholders.
Work independently, navigate ambiguity, and turn business needs into practical technical solutions.
Nice to Have
Experience building integrations to and from Oracle Fusion ERP or SCM, particularly across planning, procurement, manufacturing, inventory, logistics, and order management.
Experience developing MCP servers, plugins, or agentic automation for enterprise workflows.
Regular use of AI coding tools such as Codex, with a disciplined approach to reviewing, testing, and validating generated code.
